Public School Teacher prepares lesson plans and instructs students in an assigned school. Develops and implements grade appropriate course work, activities, and assessments to meet the academic needs of children in a K-12 classroom setting. Being a Public School Teacher evaluates and monitors student's performance. Assesses and documents students' progress. Additionally, Public School Teacher participates in development and implementation of Individual Education Plans for specific students. Resolves classroom issues and conflicts. May participate in implementing special programs for students. May supervise teaching assistants. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require specific state-level teaching license. Typically requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Typically reports to a principal. The Public School Teacher occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     OJ DeJonge Middle School English Language Arts Teacher Posting OJ DeJonge Middle School in Ludington, MI seeks a dynamic, relationship-driven English Language Arts teacher to provide instruction to middle level students in a building that works to provide students with an experience-rich education that promotes independence and responsibility.

    OJ DeJonge Middle School, located near the Lake Michigan shoreline, has recently undergone a major renovation project to provide teachers with the most up-to-date teaching technology in a positive classroom environment.

    The successful candidate for this full-time position will meet the requirements listed below :

    Duties and Responsibilities :

    Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate learning for middle level students using the Michigan standards for English Language Arts and the district-approved curriculum to drive instructional decisions.

    Collaborate with teachers within the structure of a Professional Learning Community to enhance curriculum, instruction, and assessment.

    Use relevant technology, including the development of learning modules in the Canvas Learning Management System, to support and differentiate instruction and engage students in the learning process.

    Establish a classroom structure that values positive relationships and supports the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports system.

    Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and needs.

    Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.

    The strong desire and ability to build meaningful, caring relationships with students.

    The skill and willingness to leverage the ASCD Whole Child model to ensure that

    students’ social, emotional, nutritional and health needs are addressed.

    The ability to collaboratively create and execute clear, logical instructional plans that produce strong results in student learning.

    The ability to integrate 21st Century competencies such as technology literacy, collaboration, communication, critical thinking and problem solving, goal setting, ethical citizenship, and personal accountability in curriculum.

    The capacity to create a system of ongoing data collection and analysis to inform a tiered intervention system.

    The capacity to align curriculum, instruction and assessments while responding to individual needs of students.

    Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Education

    Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate in English Language Arts

    BA or BX certification

    Valid state licensing to meet Highly Qualified requirements
