Purchasing Clerk initiates, prepares, processes, and verifies purchase orders following established guidelines to purchase materials and goods by required delivery dates. Inputs transactions and administers a purchasing and contracts system or database. Being a Purchasing Clerk interacts with suppliers to obtain favorable pricing terms, product specifications, monitor availability, and optimize savings. Expedites delayed orders and resolves issues with changes, returns, replacements, and credit arrangements. Additionally, Purchasing Clerk coordinates with internal teams to ensure that procurement needs are met promptly and efficiently. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or team leader. The Purchasing Clerk works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Job Overview
Negotiate and plan with raw material suppliers to ensure quality, on-time delivery, and competitive pricing of production materials, approved MRO items and office supplies.
Responsibilities and Duties
· Responsible for planning and buying raw production material and components in a timely and cost-effective manner, while maintaining appropriate quality standards and customer specifications.
· Review and maintain Job Requirements Summary in E2.
· Review and maintain Mill Run Checklist.
· Generate and submit purchase orders.
· Review purchase requisitions from other departments and place orders if approved.
· Analyze customer forecast (when available).
· Participate in quarterly ISO management meetings.
· Maintain ISO documents (Critical Supplier Evaluations, Terms and Conditions, etc.) for annual ISO audit.
· Build effective Supplier Relationships to improve negotiation and on time delivery.
· Track open Purchase Order deliveries and expedite past due items.
· Maintain Purchase Order acknowledgements.
· Other duties as assigned.
