Purchasing Director jobs in Arizona

Job Overview:

• Oversee the development and performance of assigned suppliers to align with commodity strategies and production goals.
• Utilize CPSR (Contractor Purchasing System Review) expertise to ensure compliance.
• Drive on-time delivery from suppliers, optimizing inventory turnaround for timely production.
• Enhance product quality and reduce scrap by improving supplier quality standards.
• Guide Purchasing staff in timely order placement and effective follow-ups.
• Achieve cost reduction targets across various purchases, managing delivery, cost, and quality.
• Implement measures to remove underperforming suppliers.

Assignment Duties:

• Ensure full compliance with CPSR policies & procedures within the Purchasing Organization.
• Acquire additional training as needed to uphold CPSR standards.
• Drive supplier performance in responsiveness, delivery, availability, reliability, leadership, and technology.
• Assure product and service readiness, maintaining operational excellence levels in supplier capabilities.
• Divide senior buyers/buyers into commodities for specialized expertise.
• Support Commodity management in negotiations and close supply contracts.
• Develop Commodity Strategies as required.
• Provide effective training and discipline for suppliers and purchasing personnel.
• Foster a professional, productive, and disciplined work environment.
• Fulfill other duties as necessary.

Requirements and Nice to Haves:

• Hold a B.A. or B.S. degree (Business or Engineering preferred) and possess a minimum of 5 years of management experience.
• 10 years of previous experience in manufacturing/buying (Steel, raw materials, ballistic material experience is Nice to have).
• Demonstrate knowledge and experience in FAR, DFAR, CPSR flow down/requirements & CPSR audits.
• Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities, situation assessment, and conflict resolution skills.
• Display the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously with effective delegation and involvement.
• Be detail/results-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills.
• Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Have experience in MRP/ERP logic/software ( Nice to have).
• Possess expertise in Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing methodologies ( Nice to have).
