Purchasing Director manages procurement and purchasing operations and implements the strategy to provide the materials and services to meet organizational requirements for quality, volume, availability, and pricing. Maintains strategic supplier relationships, negotiates contracts, and implements systems for monitoring performance, assessing risk, and responding to changes in demand or disruptions in the supply chain. Being a Purchasing Director collaborates with other functions to define current and future inventory requirements and manage inventory levels. Implements processes and systems and utilizes technical tools to analyze data and increase responsiveness to material demands. Additionally, Purchasing Director oversees auditing processes to ensure procurement and recordkeeping comply with any applicable industry or governmental regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Purchasing Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Purchasing Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     We are seeking a Full-Time Purchasing Specialist to join the team at our Sioux Falls location.

    Work hours are Monday through Friday during normal business hours and a Saturday rotation.  

    Here’s what you’ll do:

    • Identify and evaluate suppliers for construction tools and equipment.
    • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers.
    • Place and track purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of products.
    • Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and inventory levels.
    • Conduct market research to identify trends and potential new suppliers.
    • Monitor stock levels and reorder points to maintain optimal inventory levels.
    • Coordinate with warehouse, inventory control, branch store managers to manage inventory flow.
    • Analyze inventory reports to identify slow-moving or obsolete items and take corrective actions.
    • Work closely with the sales, marketing, and accounting/finance departments to forecast demand and budget for procurement.
    • Coordinate with the logistics team to ensure efficient delivery and storage of products.
    • Support product development and marketing by providing insights into new and innovative tools and equipment.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure high-quality products and services.
    • Resolve any issues related to delivery, quality, or pricing with suppliers.
    • Evaluate supplier performance and conduct regular reviews to ensure compliance with terms and conditions.
    • Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and industry regulations.
    • Prepare regular reports on procurement activities, costs, and supplier performance.
    • Assist in the preparation of annual procurement budgets and forecasts.

    Here’s what you’ll need to be successful:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement, preferably in the construction tools and equipment industry.
    • Strong knowledge of procurement principles, practices, and procedures.

    Physical Capabilities Required:

    • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
    • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time.

    • Flexibility and agility to bend, stoop, and reach.
    • Must have a sufficient visual acuity to determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work.
    • Understand the speech of another person. Speak clearly so listeners can understand.
    • Sufficient normal limits of hearing.
