Purchasing Supervisor supervises daily procurement and purchasing operations and implements the strategy to provide the materials and services to meet organizational requirements for quality, volume, availability, and pricing. Maintains strategic supplier relationships, negotiates pricing, monitors performance, and expedites to respond to changes in demand or disruptions in the supply chain. Being a Purchasing Supervisor collaborates with other functions to meet current and future inventory requirements and manage inventory levels. Utilizes technical tools to analyze data and increase responsiveness to material demands. Additionally, Purchasing Supervisor performs auditing processes to ensure procurement and recordkeeping comply with any applicable industry or governmental regulations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Purchasing Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Purchasing Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Summary:    Responsible for the supervision of the Purchasing and Planning direct reports. Delegate and prioritize tasks for Purchasing and Planning personnel. Set expectations and hold employees accountable to meet the company’s goals and objectives. Ensure all MRP-related computer data files are maintained and purchase orders are placed with approved suppliers. Negotiate pricing and work with suppliers to ensure product quality standards being met and consistently delivered on time. Source new suppliers to improve quality, on time delivery, and overall cost. General Duties and Responsibilities:     Supervise and prioritize the activities of the Purchasing and Planning team to ensure the timely procurement of materials and adherence to production schedules.    Collaborate with the cross-functional teams to prioritize daily tasks, resolve issues, and optimize supply chain processes.    Monitor inventory levels and procurement activities to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize stockouts.    Analyze data and trends to identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, quality enhancement and departmental performance.    Lead cross-functional teams to address supplier change notifications and drive continuous improvement initiatives.    Support the MRB function by overseeing communications with suppliers regarding material return for credit or initiating scrap procedures, ensuring timely resolution and escalations.    Prepare bid packages on new and existing parts.    Negotiate product pricing, terms, and contracts, with a focus on minimizing purchase price variance and improving supplier performance.    Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.    Lead and facilitate the development of team members with respect to purchasing, production planning, quality management systems, and continuous improvement practices, leveraging internal and external resources as necessary.    Provide regular reports and updates to management on departmental performance, ensuring clear and concise communication of key information and progress.
