Quality Assurance Engineering Supervisor supervises inspections of raw materials, materials in process, and finished products. Assists in the development of quality standards and protocols for quality assurance testing models. Being a Quality Assurance Engineering Supervisor designs and implements policies and procedures for testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and/or equipment. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Quality Assurance Engineering Supervisor typically reports to a manager. The Quality Assurance Engineering Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Thorough knowledge of department processes.     The Hanwha Aerospace USA Quality Engineering Supervisor will be responsible for all activities associated with the Quality function reporting directly to the Quality Manager.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    Quality Governance

    • Ensure process and procedures defined in the Quality Management System (QMS) are understood and followed.
    • Lead / support internal and external audit activities (AS9100, AS13100, NADCAP, Customer, etc) as required to meet requirements and maintain approvals.
    • Be cognizant of Export Control requirements and controls, taking necessary steps to always ensure export compliance.
    • Drive robust RCCA process with real time daily stand-up Quality reviews and SPC data collection / actions.
    • Support monthly MCAT (Material Corrective Action Team) process with on-time reporting of Quality KPI’s - driving YOY improvements in quality performance.

     

    Quality Planning / New Product Introduction (NPI)

    • Manage the Quality Planning / NPI process in line with the Quality NPI tracker to ensure on-time and completeness of Quality NPI requirements.
      1. Contract Review (Customer PO, requirements, drawings specifications)
      2. Ballooned drawings & associated documents
      3. Gage R&R Studies 
      4. KPC's understood, SPC Plan developed.
      5. Create IMS & FAI Templates
      6. Validate / correlate CMM Program to IMS
      7. Secure special process approvals & NDT
      8. Coordinate customer submittals & approvals (Ex: ESA, VSE, DVI, PPAP)
      9. Coordination and submittal of first articles and their presentation to the customer.
      10. Manage CMM programming process, process controls and correlation requirements. 
      11. Support MRB Quality Clinic process, MRB actions / reductions and successful response to complaints. 

     

    Employee Development & Performance

    • Staff, develop, train, motivate, discipline, and review direct reports. Responsible for all documentation related to direct reports.  Utilizes team approach & involvement effectively.
    • Develop, utilize, and update employee skill matrix to define necessary skills to perform the requirements of the job adequately and safely, to develop gaps and associated training development plans and to ensure department is adequately staffed to meet business needs.
    • Monitor department and employee performance – implement actions to achieve targeted performance objectives.
    • Performs other related duties or responsibilities as requested or required, whether specifically mentioned in this job description.

     

    Physical Demands:   

    • Must be able to lift, push, or pull at least 35 lbs. 
    • Regularly required to sit, stand, reach, bend, and move about our facility.

     

    Requirements:

     

    • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or Associate’s Degree supplemented by relevant work experience.
    • Previous experience with Aerospace assembly operations is preferred.
    • Desire for practical and tangible ‘hands-on’ work in a manufacturing environment.
    • Demonstrated record or desire of same for the self-directed management of multiple tasks in a high-tempo manufacturing environment. 
    • A determined commitment to overcome challenges to resolve issues and accomplish both company and personal objectives.   
    • Must possess excellent skills in blueprint reading and specification interpretation.
    • Must have the ability to understand customer requirements and specifications.
    • Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Access.
    • Working knowledge of inspection techniques, quality engineering practices.
    • Understanding of data collection and statistical process control (SPC) techniques.
    • Good communication skills, capability of communicating effectively with engineers, shop personnel, management staff, suppliers, and customers.
