    Dynetics a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, is seeking a talented Quality Manager for Mechanical Manufacturing Products to support commercial, aerospace, and defense manufacturing/production programs at our Spire location. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Leidos-Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.

    The Quality Manager for Mechanical Manufacturing Products position is responsible for implementing a Quality Control system and team that promotes customer satisfaction. The position will champion continuous improvement efforts and defect reduction initiatives to develop an effective Quality Control system for mechanical products such as machined parts, mechanical assemblies, composite assemblies, welded assemblies, painted or coated assemblies, flight hardware fabrication and assemblies, etc.

    Primary Responsibilities
    • Serves as the primary quality control authority for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement.
    • Previous experience managing Quality Engineers
    • Manages quality control personnel on a day-to-day basis.
    • Plan quality control staffing needs based on product manufacturing requirements, and delegate activities to Quality Engineer, Technician, and Inspector staff.
    • Establishes and implements metrics (process capability, control charts, measurement quality) for monitoring Quality Control system effectiveness.
    • Leads root-cause analysis and other problem-solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements.
    • Establishes collection and analysis systems of statistical data to predict trends that will affect improvement of product quality.
    • Develops quality planning methods for all product lines within the plant.
    • Experience in GD&T, interpretation of drawing requirements and understanding of design requirements.
    • Interacts with customers to identify opportunities to improve quality and establish feedback with manufacturing and development personnel.
    • Initiates and implements quality improvement activities as appropriate (e.g., Kaizen, Six Sigma) to raise the performance of the plant's product lines.
    • Propose and justify expenditures for new quality equipment or training programs.
    • Foster a culture of innovation within the quality team, encouraging the adoption of new techniques and technologies that can enhance quality.
    • Train and mentor staff on quality standards, procedures, and best practices.
    • Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential quality issues and ensure continuous production without major disruptions.
    • Reports to Quality Management on quality issues, trends, and losses.
    • Participates in internal and external quality audits.
    • Collaborates with DCMA and other government and/or customer quality assurance organizations
    • Interfaces with supplier and customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality control and assure that effective corrective action is implemented.
    • All other reasonable duties, as assigned.
    • This position manages all Quality Control employees of a machining mechanical manufacturing plant and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that team.
    • Manage the quality department's budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources while maintaining high-quality standards.


    Basic Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, systems engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering or business administration, or equivalent number of years of experience.
    • Must have Ten (10 ) years of experience in QA/QC systems implementation and/or management in a manufacturing and/or product-based environment. Fifteen (15 ) years of experience acceptable in lieu of degree.
    • Experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment, with a solid understanding of machining processes.
    • Understanding knowledge of measurement techniques and experience managing a CMM/ inspection lab.
    • Strong problem solving skills
    • Management of Quality Engineers
    • Experience in a QMS compliant with AS9100/ISO9001.
    • Candidates must be a resident of or willing to relocate to the Huntsville, Al area.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • ASQC is preferred
    • Experience in leading skilled professionals in a matrix environment
    • Familiarity with Deltek Costpoint accounting software a plus
    • Direct experience with Manufacturing Execution System (MES) Quality Module implementation and a plus

    Pay Range: Pay Range $87,100.00 - $157,450.00
