POSITION SUMMARY
The Quality Control Supervisor (QCS) is a key leader in the organization, serving a critical assistance and support role for the Customer, Key Account Managers, and the Senior Quality Engineer. The QCS is a team player with an outgoing personality and an ability to communicate well at all levels of the organization.
This position plans, implements and coordinates product and process control programs designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards as well as supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Must demonstrate a strong personality and willingness to assist production personnel in their understanding of the customer specifications, monitoring statistical techniques to control the quality output of the production process, and to forge a strong bond with the shop floor personnel working towards shared quality goals and objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- The QCS will interact with represented teams from within H&T, and its immediate customer. A positive, constructive attitude and excellent communication skills are key to the success of this
- The position is responsible for hiring, training, and managing the quality technician team for the site on both day shift and night shift. This includes approving timecards, approving personal time off, monitoring attendance and conducting disciplinary actions as necessary. It also includes monitoring the quality of work and output of the quality technicians.
- The position is responsible for driving root cause analysis arising from both customer complaints and internal NCR It is also responsible for developing and implementing corrective and preventive actions for defective product including containment actions and NCR scrap reduction, initiating quality system improvements and championing quality control continuous improvement initiatives.
- Coordinates inspection and testing of product, processes, tools, and gages to determine conformance to standards.
- The position is responsible for auditing and overseeing the quality operator operations and coordinating corrective actions to improve the line side inspection effectiveness.
- Analyzes metrics regarding quality issues and trends and prepares site quality performance reports for internal and external distribution.
- The position provides hands on back up support for quality technicians during call offs and vacation time.
- The quality control supervisor for site 1 will also oversee all NCR and RMA supervisory responsibilities that include direct liaison with the customer.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
EDUCATION. EXPERIENCE. AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- High School Diploma or equivalent ; minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing related discipline required
- Must have working experience in an ISO 9001 environment
- Experience in a deep draw or progressive die metal stamping environment is preferred.
- Experience in a high volume, tight tolerance process manufacturing environment is preferred
- Excellent presentation skills
- Knowledge of problem-solving skills
- Communicates with all levels of management and personnel
- Strong communication skills are needed for training, good written skills for ISO procedures.
- Highest level of confidentiality
- Computer skills; Word, Excel, Lotus Notes, etc.
- Experience with visual inspection systems and programming is preferred.
- Ability to interpret prints and engineering instructions.
- Metrology, calibration and gage repeatability and reproducibility methods knowledge is a plus.
- Basic operation of non-contact and contact measuring equipment.
- Knowledge of geometric tolerance procedures is preferred.
- Ability to conduct 4M inspection requirements and mold certs is preferred.

- Ability to work various shifts if needed, to support a 24/7 operation

- Close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus are required to set up inspection equipment and perform inspections.

- Occasionally may work near moving mechanical parts and be exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
- Ability to sit or stand in one location for several hours while inspecting and testing.
- Ability to reach to use tools and equipment for inspecting and testing.
- Ability to manipulate and feel small parts for inspection and testing.
- Ability to inspect small parts visually and through use of magnifying equipment
