Quality Improvement Director - Healthcare leads and directs process and overall quality improvement activities that produce better patient care and more efficient operations. Develops programs to review and evaluate patient care and outcomes.   • Summary:

    The QI Coordinator provides expertise and support for Quality Management functions, including abstracting, data aggregation and analysis, and medical record review for quality assessment. This individual will demonstrate their expertise in quality management and performance improvement through coordination and maintenance of quality clinical initiatives to support performance improvement programs. Analyze and trends data for opportunities for improvement/process improvement.


    This role is expected to apply clinical knowledge and analytical skills to assist the Director of QM and leadership in implementing quality improvement strategies and change with a strong focus on improving quality outcomes and results. The Quality Improvement Coordinator also provides support to medical staff peer review activities. Coordinates and facilitates medical staff Peer Review activities and physician review of cases involving potential quality issues. Actively participates in various multi-disciplinary committees and task forces.


    Experience/Education Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or healthcare related field, Healthcare Management, or Quality Management.
    • Relevant certifications, such as Certified Quality Improvement Associate (CQIA) or Certified Quality Improvement Professional (CQIP), Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred. Obtain certification within 2-3 years of employment.
    • Proven experience in quality improvement, preferably in a healthcare or service-oriented industry.
    • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards, such as ISO 9001 or DNV, is highly desirable.
    • Familiarity with data management systems and quality improvement tools, such as process mapping, root cause analysis, and performance dashboards.
    • Strong understanding of quality improvement principles, methodologies, and best practices.
    • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.


    Responsibilities:


    The Quality Improvement Coordinator is responsible for:

    • Utilize electronic Peer Review module in documenting peer review cases and lead Medical Staff the integration of system approach for peer reviews.
    • Direct organization wide processes for evaluating, monitoring, and improving compliance with internal and external requirements.
    • Lead the organization's processes to prepare for, participate in, and follow up on regulatory, accreditation and certification surveys and activities.
    • Direct activities that support compliance with organization wide voluntary, mandatory, and contractual requirements for data acquisition, analysis, reporting, and improvement.
    • Ensure High-Reliability Principles and PDSA methodology are utilized in leading committee’s continuous improvement projects.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop action plans and implement process improvements.
    • Analyze data and key performance indicators to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for cost reduction.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
    • Develop and maintain documentation related to quality improvement activities, including policies, procedures, and reports.
    • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in quality management.
    • Identify training needs and develop training materials to enhance employee understanding and adherence to quality standards.


    In addition to the above responsibilities the Stroke Coordinator is also responsible for:

    • Attends webinars and conferences in relation to stroke and core measures.
    • Collects core measure (AMI, Heart Failure, Sepsis and Stroke) data concurrently and retrospectively and keeps statistics on concurrent data collection.
    • Oversees data abstraction for third party vendor for stroke and core measures (AMI, Heart Failure, Sepsis and Stroke).
    • Prepares reports for the multi-disciplinary committees related to quality metrics in core measures (AMI, Heart Failure, Sepsis and Stroke).
    • Provides concurrent nursing and medical staff education for all the core measures (AMI, Heart Failure, Sepsis and Stroke).
    • Serves as the QI Coordinator for the Medical Center and facilitates core measure programs (AMI, Heart Failure, Sepsis and Stroke) in conjunction with the Medical Director and committee teams with the responsibilities for ensuring that the requirements of the Accrediting Bodies are implemented and maintained.
