Columbia Quarry Co. operates limestone quarries location in Southwestern Illinois, adjacent to the metro St Louis area. We are looking to fill the position of Superintendent. This position will be over a portable plant that rotates between Waterloo, IL, Columbia, IL, and Perryville, MO.
Responsibilities
· Manages all aspects of the plant operations.
· Maintains high safety standards, using thorough knowledge of MSHA regulations to avoid injuries or incidents.
· Functions as a safety leader in the quarry by demonstrating a personal commitment to working safely, ensuring the plant continues to eliminate work-related risks.
· Accomplish production goals and keep accurate records with regards to cycle times, production targets, maintains quality production of materials, and adherence to budgeted cost targets.
· Manage and work with quarry and plant personnel, using high level operating practices to optimize and reduce costs through continuous improvement.
· Direct stripping, drilling, blasting, loading, crushing, screening, and stock pile materials.
· Develop production plans in advance with the Sales Department, taking into account customer requirements with respect to tonnage, type of product, and shipping schedule.
· Scheduling of manpower requirements to meet production plans.
· Ensure property remains in good condition and appearance.
· Assume responsibility for security and maintenance of buildings, structures, machinery, equipment, tools, and supplies in your care.
· Be familiar with the capacities and limitations of equipment recommended by manufacturers.
· Manage Federal, State, and Local Permitting.
Qualifications
· 5 years of mine supervision experience preferred.
· Thorough knowledge of MSHA regulations.
· Strong verbal and written skills.
· Strong work ethic
· Self-start that is able to work with minimum supervision and sound decision making abilities.
· Must have the ability to effectively plan mining activities and demonstrate leadership qualities.
· Computer skills and Microsoft Office experience
