  • Overview SUMMARY : It is the responsibility of the Race and Sportsbook Writer to write Race and Sports tickets and provide Golden Nugget customers with racing and sporting information Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Sign on ticket writing stations and write and cash both Race and Sports tickets for customers.

    Keep up with scores and posting them accordingly on wallboards as they come over the wire service. Make betting line changes as instructed by Supervisors.

    Assist customers and answer any questions they may have. Stock betting stations with tickets. Keep printer and ticket ribbon and paper in good working condition.

    Sign off stations and balance out all monies with the final computer figures. Up-date sheets and keeps sheets stocked for customers and staff on a daily basis.

    Head cashier to order and pick up money from the main casino cage on opening and turn in money at closing. Head cashier to add up race and sports tickets for closing procedure and balance money and tickets.

    Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : None Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the duties and responsibilities satisfactorily.

    Cash handling experience. Minimum age requirement is 21 MATHEMATICAL SKILLS : Must possess basic mathematical skills to include ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide specific to position responsibilities.

    Language Skills : Ability to read and understand all policies and procedures. Must be able to communicate effectively with guests, employees, and members of management in English, specific to position duties and responsibilities.

    Must be able to complete standard forms and reports. PHYSICAL DEMANDS : The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an incumbent to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.

    Constantly sitting, talking, listening, remembering, reading, observing detail, doing arithmetic, walking distances of up to 30 feet.

    Frequently reaching and pulling wallboards weighing up to 15 pounds, discriminating colors, writing and pushing. Occasionally standing, bending, stooping, lifting weights up to 50 pounds and sitting.

    Ability to speak well with the public. Pleasant personality. Ability to learn fast and work rapidly. Constantly using wrist and finger motion to punch information on betting stations.

    Ability to concentrate in a noisy environment. Ability to use a copy machine. Ability to work at various tempos. Ability to count and handle money.
