Radiation Therapy Dosimetrist jobs in Virginia
Radiation Therapy Dosimetrist calculates computerized isodose plans for radiation oncology patients. Computes standard dose calculations and determines computerized generation of isodose curves for external beam hyperthermia and brachytherapy radiation treatment programs. Being a Radiation Therapy Dosimetrist calculates treatment machine settings, documents calculations, and records treatment data in therapy chart. Interprets physician prescriptions to develop a therapeutic treatment plan. Additionally, Radiation Therapy Dosimetrist typically requires completion of a training program in medical dosimetry and ARRT registration in radiation therapy. Requires a bachelor's degree of physical or biological sciences. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Spectrum Healthcare Resources has a potential opportunity for a civilian Radiation Therapy Medical Physicist at Portsmouth Naval Medical Center.
- Full-time opportunity
- Monday through Friday

Job Requirements:
The Position will have the following requirements:
- Possess a minimum of three (3) years’ experience within the preceding five (5) years as a Therapeutic Medical Physicist in a hospital setting. Possess a minimum of one (1) year experience within the preceding three (3) years providing physics support for stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) and stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) procedures.
Meet the qualifications required by the American College of Radiation Oncology for medical physicists supporting American College of Radiation Oncology accredited Computerized Tomography (CT) systems. Hold a Master’s or Doctorate degree in Physics, Medical Physics, other physical science, engineering, or applied mathematics from an accredited college or university.
- Be listed on the Nuclear Regulatory Commission licenses as an Authorized Medical Physicist within the past five (5) years.
