Ranch Manager manages the overall daily operations of a farm/ranch. Provides supervision and direction to staff. Being a Ranch Manager is responsible for purchasing tools, equipment and materials. May require a bachelor's degree or its equivalent with at least 5 years of related experience. Additionally, Ranch Manager relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.     No day is ever the same and no task is too small for any member of our ranch team.

    The Ranch Hand team member requires a person who enjoys working outside in all weather and all seasons.

    The Ranch Hand reports directly to the ranch manager to prioritize tasks and will work with the rest of the ranch team as needed.

    The position requires problem solving skills and an eagerness to learn, share knowledge and ask for help when needed.

    Daily schedule includes:

    • morning check-in @ 8:00 a.m.
    • communicating/developing plan for the day and week with the Ranch Manager
    • prioritizing Ranch Hand position duties
    • paid lunch
    • communicating and working with the Ranch Manager as new challenges arise

    This position is best suited to someone who enjoys and can bring skills in:

    • grounds and building maintenance including but not limited to: lots of mowing and weed trimming, digging holes, hand weeding and non-herbicide weed management, landscape work, snow shoveling/removal/plowing and occasional garden duties

    Someone who can:

    • safely and effectively operate equipment, can or is willing to learn how to operate a skid steer, mini excavator, tractor, trailer, bulldozer, snowplow, chainsaw or pond pumps
    • ability to or willing to learn basic machine maintenance on small and larger equipment such as mowers, gators, weed trimmers and snow blowers including tune-ups, oil changes, replacing spark plugs, fuel and oil filter changes
    • help with building maintenance and repairs: change light bulbs, UV light maintenance, change batteries in smoke alarms, cleaning gutters and change furnace filters.
    • demonstrate experience with office work, computers (apple and/or Microsoft), smartphones and technology tools. Must be good at written and spoken communication and have organizational skills

    Examples of projects from last year include:

    • Draining and cleaning the pond
    • Digging holes to fix broken water lines
    • Pruning fruit trees
    • Painting trim on various buildings
    • Landscape improvements around the office and shop
    • Repairing fences

    The position is well suited to a candidate that is looking for exposure to the sciences such as: biology, botany, forestry, GIS and GPS

    We provide numerous opportunities to be exposed to the work we are doing in forest health, field restoration, native plants, creek restoration, agricultural systems as well as gaining skills in project management for those with ambition and curiosity to expand their knowledge.

    Must have a good safety record and a concern for safety for self, others, and the equipment. Use of PPE and safety protocols are important.

    Candidate must be willing to work productively while working independently. There are a wide variety of tasks each day in any kind of weather and across a variety of terrain. It is a physical job.

    The position is 8am-4pm Monday-Friday and requires attending weekly staff meeting, and occasional planning meetings. Additional responsibilities will be added as needed and per request.

    Position is hourly depending on experience. 30-40hours/week. Holiday pay. Health insurance and retirement plan are available.

    Position requires a clean driving record, able to work in the US for any employer and a complete background check before hiring.

    Person must be minimum 18 years old, fully vaccinated, show proof of vaccinations and welcome ranch rules on masks, boosters.

    Housing is not provided at this time.

    Start date flexible but hoping to hire before the end of March, 2024.
