Recreational Therapist plans and directs medically approved therapeutic recreational programs for patients. Organizes activities according to patients' capabilities, needs, and interests. Being a Recreational Therapist conducts programs including symptom management, basic conversation skills, community re-entry, sports, gardening, dramatics, music, social activities, and arts and crafts. Prepares reports for patients' physicians describing individual patient symptoms and reactions to therapeutic programs. Additionally, Recreational Therapist conducts activity therapy assessment of a patient's strengths and needs, and recommends therapeutic activity. Documents progress on each patient. Requires a license/certification to practice from the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Specialists. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. Requires to practice from the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Specialists. Recreational Therapist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified.     Healing Harmonies is seeking a well-rounded, passionate, responsible and reliable art therapist to join our dynamic growing team of board certified music and licensed art therapists! We are a rapidly growing private practice, providing services to Milwaukee, Waukesha and surrounding Counties. Our work is highly interdisciplinary, both in-house between art and music as well as with our community contracts, daily collaborating with nurses, case managers, psychotherapists, and other ancillary services. We hold weekly team meetings to maintain a high level of communication, collaboration, and opportunities to educate, support and troubleshoot unique cases and situations that we work with throughout the week.

    Our philosophy is highly client-centered and our mission is to empower individuals to be the best version of themselves, utilizing music and art to access their unique inner, rhythm, making the walk of life a healthier and more fulfilling journey.

    Clients are seen at our Wauwatosa office location as well as in the community and so extensive driving is required at times. This position will serve clients in individual and group settings. Services are provided for a variety of clients including but not limited to:

    • Adolescents and/or adults with mental health and/or substance use disorders
    • children and adults with special needs
    • hospice care
    • Those with Neurodegenerative Diseases such as Alzheimer’s/Dementia, Parkinson's Disease, etc.
    • Memory Care
    • Additional needs or environment as they arise as well as some in-home clients.

    This can be a part-time or full-time position and is paid hourly with the therapist being an employee of Healing Harmonies, LLC with a start date of ASAP. Pay is based on education and experience. Hours of operation are Monday through Saturday from 8:30-7:00 PM so the individual therapist's hours vary dependent on caseload and need of the business.

    Qualifications:

    • Masters Degree in Art Therapy
    • ATR, ATRL, AT-BC, LPC-IT, LPC, and/or SAC-IT or currently able to work towards appropriate licensure
