Regional Agency Director is responsible for all facets of sales performance for insurance agencies within a designated geographic area. Develops policies, objectives, and initiatives for agencies in the region and is responsible for ensuring the region meets its projected goals. Being a Regional Agency Director coordinates operations with those of other regions. Directs agency and district managers in achieving their goals and objectives of securing the optimum volume of high-quality business at proper cost. Additionally, Regional Agency Director is responsible for number of premiums written per region. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Regional Agency Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.   • Position Summary

    The role of the Director of Clinic Operations reports to the Executive Director of Clinic Operations with partnership to the Vice President of Clinic Operations. The Director of Clinic Operations provides leadership and direction for the practice management activities of multiple clinics and service lines of Washington Regional Medical System, with primary focus on primary care and non-surgical specialty clinic operations. This position includes all areas of the business, financial, strategy, personnel, development, and overall operations of the assigned Washington Regional Medical System Clinics. This position is responsible for coordination and execution of multiple corporate projects as assigned by the Executive Director.

    Essential Position Responsibilities

    • Responsible for managing and directing the operations of the various clinics and locations of Washington Regional Medical System Clinics ensuring efficient operations and alignment with Washington Regional’s mission, vision, and values within the established strategic plans, goals, and budgets. Includes strategy, planning and developing, implementing, and administering policies and procedures, and evaluating progress.
    • Responsible for monitoring the financial performance and guiding progress along with other departmental leaders consistent with budget targets and Washington Regional and/or other appropriate benchmarks.
    • Interact with Washington Regional Medical Center and Washington Regional Medical System departments to ensure division and practice objectives are met by coordinating communication between departments and appropriate leaders, including facilities management, marketing, provider recruitment, human resources, surgery and surgical services, central billing office, information technology, etc.
    • Assist in the transition of acquired/integrated physician practices across assigned service lines/divisions (Primary Care, Specialty, Integrative Medicine).
    • Consult and advise the Vice President, Executive Director, and other appropriate leadership on direction of activities, strategic planning, coordination of care, and overall operations. Assume additional responsibility in absence of Vice President or Executive Director.
    • Responsible for directing the operations of the System’s clinics including planning, developing, securing approval, implementing, and administering departmental policies and procedures designed to ensure all patient care is efficiently and professionally performed in accordance with the goals of the System.
    • Responsible for the development and maintenance of information on utilization, competitor market share, demographics, etc., and lead in market development and sales activities that promote the entirety of Washington Regional Medical System’s services, including employed and independent outpatient clinics, hospital services, surgery, and other service lines as appropriate to grow the system.
    • Responsible for the coordination and completion of various corporate projects as assigned, including care partnerships and health development. Develops and nurtures key relationships with partners – Including UAMS, University of Arkansas, Partnership for a Healthy Arkansas (PHA), and others as well as the community as a whole to grow strategic services.
    • Work closely with CFO/CAO/Director of Clinic Finance to develop and secure approval of various budgets and leads the team to hit growth, revenue, and profitability targets.
    • Interviews, hires, trains, evaluates the performance of – and when necessary – disciplines and discharges subordinate clinic managers and supervisory personnel. Reviews performance evaluations of all department personnel and all recommendations for discipline or discharge. Assists subordinate supervisors in resolving complex employee relations problems.
    • Coach the management team so they understand long-term profit and performance goals and provides ongoing support and expertise to all management personnel.
    • Assist and consult with administration, medical staff personnel, and various committees in developing criteria and methods for enhancing and evaluating quality of patient care provided.
    • Work closely with the clinic Director of Nursing and periodically review clinic records for completeness, accuracy and conformance with accepted System and accreditation standards. Follow through with deficient records ensuring quality control standards and compliance with records management.
    • Direct preparation of and review reports, statistical analyses and the like requested by third party personnel, regulatory agencies, and the health system. Prepare more complex or confidential reports and analyses as necessary. Present findings, orally or in writing, to requesting parties, including small to large/public groups.
    • Routinely review ongoing projects to ensure work is accom­plished in a timely manner.
    • Direct professional development of and approves in-service educational programs for clinic staff.
    • Maintain professional affiliations and enhances knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate books, journals and other literature and attending related seminars, conferences and the like.

    Additional Responsibilities

    • Integrate the department into the primary function of the System, including being responsive to changing needs or unusual/urgent events that occur within the System and participating in cross organizational activities designed to improve organizational performance, as appropriate.
    • Develop, gain administrative approval of, and implement policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of departmental services.
    • Recommend a sufficient number of qualified and competent persons to provide departmental services and assist in the System’s recruiting and retention efforts to provide the number of staff recommended.
    • Determine and discern the qualifications and competence of department personnel.
    • Continually assess the needs for and strive to improve the performance of care and quality of the services provided.
    • Develop and/or maintain, as appropriate, quality control and quality improve­ment programs.
    • Provide directly or provide access to orientation and continu­ing education of all personnel in the department.
    • Provide recommendations for space and other resources needed by the department as necessary, and work closely with third party consultants including architects and contractors on building and development projects.
    • Participate in the selection of off-site resources needed for services related to the department but not provided by the department.
    • Conduct regular staff meetings to communicate issues regarding the System’s mission, values, operational plans, safety, quality, and other relevant inter and intra-depart­mental issues.
    • Provide timely and effective feedback to individuals responsi­ble for coordinating organizational performance improvement activities and, on an individual and departmental level, actively participate in those activities, as appropriate.

    Qualifications

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration or related field, required. Master’s degree in related field, preferred.
    • Minimum of seven (7) years of directly related healthcare leadership experience including data collection and analysis, leading teams and personnel to success around a common goal, experience and success in developing and implementing systematic changes and experience in implementing policy and procedures that perpetuate a customer centric environment.
    • Understand and appropriately applies procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies related to specialized expertise on technical matters and serve as a subject matter expert.

    Professional Skills

    • Approximately seven to ten years progressively more responsible related work experience which includes five to seven years supervisory and managerial experience, in order to effectively direct and manage activities within patient and customer experience and services.
    • Advanced interpersonal skills necessary in order to provide effective leadership to subordinate personnel and effectively communicate with a wide variety of hospital personnel, community residents and outside agencies personnel.
    • Advanced analytical skills necessary in order to develop and implement new policies techniques and procedures, determines need for capital equipment, personnel, expense and revenue budgets, and prepare special and recurring reports or analyses.

    Distinguishing Features of the Department Head (DH) Position: Under general supervision of the Vice President and Executive Director, the Department Head is responsible for the direct governance of the clinic operations category of business. The DH administers and coordinates the operations of this function to ensure proper management and effective operation of the delivery of care in accordance with established accreditation, regulatory and professional standards, together with applicable Hospital and System policies and procedures. Responsibility involves effective strategic planning and operational coordination with multiple Hospital and System support functions.
