Regulatory Affairs Specialist jobs in North Dakota

Regulatory Affairs Specialist supports the oversight of regulatory matters and strategy implementation to ensure the organization complies with applicable regulations. Prepares filings and tracks applications for licensing, certification, and permits and interacts with governmental officials during the regulation and certification process. Being a Regulatory Affairs Specialist monitors compliance with existing regulations and upcoming or changing regulations. Performs impact analysis of regulatory changes and produces status reports. Additionally, Regulatory Affairs Specialist participates in processes to report, investigate, and addresses any issues of non-compliance. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Regulatory Affairs Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     Responsible for the management of the regulatory affairs function (for multiple jurisdictions for the Utility Group only) in accordance with applicable governing statues, regulations and orders of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and State Regulatory Commissions (collectively, Commissions), and in accordance with regulatory techniques and practices appropriate within the natural gas and electric industries, to maximize earnings and services to customers while operating within governmental regulations, company policy and legal requirements. Responsible for placing safety as #1 priority in day-to-day work routine for self and others.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, economics, finance, engineering or related field.
    • Seven years' progressively responsible regulatory experience in the energy industry.
    • Three years' prior supervisory or leadership experience.
      OTHER REQUIREMENTS
      • Must take all measures necessary to protect networks, devices, programs and data from cyber-attack, damage or unauthorized access.
      • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, no sponsorships considered.
      • Subject to pre-employment drug testing and background checks.
      • Required to maintain a valid driver's license.
      • Requires travel - moderate (up to 25%)
      PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
      • CPA or MBA with a degree in accounting, economics, finance, engineering, or related field.
      • Prior analytical or accounting experience.
      • Experience with energy economics, conservation and energy efficiency programs, or economic regulation of public utilities.
      JOB RESPONSIBILTIES
      • Participates in establishing strategies that plan, develop, organize, implement and evaluate the organization's regulatory function and performance.
      • Tracks and analyzes Commission Orders and Rule changes that affect company processes or regulatory strategies.
      • Keeps abreast of applicable statutes and commission rules and regulations. Interpret and comply with the various Commissions' filing requirements. Analyzes any proposed changes, which affect area of responsibility and make recommendations as appropriate.
      • Manages the preparation and filing of cost recovery mechanisms, including the fuel and purchased power cost adjustments and purchased gas cost adjustments, transmission, environmental, conservation, renewable and other tariff riders.
      • Performs other tasks and special projects as assigned.

      Offers typically made between - $127,970 - $159,960 Annually.
