Reinsurance Director is responsible for the administration of reinsurance plans. Maintains plan records and ensures compliance with federal regulations. Being a Reinsurance Director communicates with customers and assists with plan design and distribution when necessary. Ensures timely accounting, reporting and auditing. Additionally, Reinsurance Director researches and analyzes reinsurance prices and specifications. Communicates with underwriting area to verify the proper reinsurance administration is put in place. Supports the investigation of proposed reinsurance opportunities, rate comparisons, and profitability analysis. May have responsibility for reinsurance customer service. Has attained industry designations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Reinsurance Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Reinsurance Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     The Role at a Glance
    This is a key officer level strategic role within the organization given our continued focus on capital efficiency which includes exploring both internal and external complex reinsurance structures. The position reports to the VP - Head of Reinsurance Accounting within the Accounting and Business Strategy organization.
    General Purpose of Job
    This position provides leadership, direction and functional expertise to ensure departmental results for their assigned Reinsurance accounting area(s) of responsibility. They will direct the preparation, recording, analysis and reporting on Reinsurance accounting transactions for their area(s) of responsibility. In addition, they will contribute to the development of Accounting strategy and ensure the integrity of accounting records are accurate and in compliance with accepted accounting policies and principles.
    What you'll be doing
    • Owns implementation of high profile reinsurance transactions and structures, including collaboration with internal teams (actuarial, capital management, etc.) and external counterparties.
    • Collaborates on complex reinsurance accounting topics and ensures the integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with accepted accounting policies and principles.
    • Develops and oversees complex processes to ensure effective procedures are in place to support internal controls (SOX/MAR) and accepted accounting policies and principles
    • Owns the financial reporting process for 10-K/Q reporting, NAIC Statutory reporting, and regulatory reporting in other jurisdictions.
    • Directs and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility, and provides leadership to continually improve the capability and results of the team.
    What we're looking for
    • CPA highly preferred
    • 7 years of experience in accounting, including 5 years of Life reinsurance experience including experience with strategic reinsurance deals, preferably including offshore experience.

    Pay Range: $120,600 - $220,100
    Actual base pay could vary based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln's total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln's standard benefits package.
