Senior Chemist in Catalyst/Alloy

Principle Tasks

• Direct, coordinate, and advise personnel in scientific procedures for analyzing components and physical properties of materials, alloys, and catalysts, including metal deposition reactions, alloying, intermetallic chemistry, and/or colloidal chemistry.
• Evaluate laboratory safety procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices and make improvements as needed.
• Compile and analyze test information to determine process and equipment operating efficiency and to diagnose malfunctions.
• Write technical papers or reports and prepare specifications for processes, facilities, products, and tests.
• Confer with scientists and engineers to conduct analyses of research projects, interpret test results, and develop novel processes.
• Develop, improve, and customize products, equipment, formulas, processes, and analytical methods.
• Execute, manage, and report on grant projects.
• Write and present papers and posters at conferences and trade shows.

Knowledge in:

• Engineering and Technology — Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of catalysts and catalyst supports.
• Electrochemical characterization and instrumentation; electrochemical evaluation and data analyses to direct future research/manufacturing directions
• Electrocatalysts, alloys, fuel cells, electrolyzers, electrodes, and associated devices.
• Science — Using scientific rules and methods to solve problems with strong laboratory best practices.
• Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
• Complex Problem Solving — Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
• Writing and Speaking — Communicating effectively as appropriate for the needs of the audience including professional audiences.

Edu/ Training/ Exp Required

• PhD in materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or similar with hydrogen catalyst technology, intermetallic, and/or alloy chemistry emphasis; research knowledge of iridium chemistry a very strong plus
• Strong organizational, analytical, writing, troubleshooting, and complex problem-solving skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Suite to plan, analyze, and report on projects, experimental data, and logs; JMP/DOE software; electronic notebooking, etc.
• Chemical Safety and Regulatory requirements
• Must be a Citizen or Permanent Resident of the US

Additional Information/Requirements

Must be willing to relocate to and work onsite in Albuquerque, NM.
