Research and Development Supervisor supervises activities in the research and development department. Oversees personnel who utilize established mathematical and scientific techniques to compile and analyze data and write technical reports detailing procedures, outcomes, and observations. Being a Research and Development Supervisor ensures proper procedure, and helps devise new development techniques. A level I supervisor is considered a working supervisor with little authority for personnel actions. Additionally, Research and Development Supervisor may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Temporary Research Technician - College of Rural and Community Development

  • This position will be responsible for working on projects that increase interest in STEM learning and local STEM jobs for rural Alaska Native students. Facilitate community engagement in the development of learning resources and experiences that draw on the collective wisdom of generations and the need to maintain traditional living in a rapidly changing environment.

    •Interpersonal and relationship-building skills
    •Ability to use spreadsheets and databases to collect and organize information Preferred Experience & Education:
    One year of technical experience

    Preferred:
    Experience with confidential data management, data entry, and interviewing.
    At least 6 months relative experience and/or academic training in research.
    Required Experience & Education:

    Associate's degree in a relevant field and one year experience in a field relevant to the research or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

    Salary Information:

    This is a part-time, 9-month, temporary staff position. New hires will be placed on the UA temporary salary schedule, Grade 77, based on education and experience.

    Please note the following regions have a geographic differential that will be incorporated into the final salary amount:

    • Bethel (38%)
    • Dillingham, Aleutian Islands, Adak, Sand Point, Bristol Bay (27%)
    • Additional locations might have applicable geographic differential and the appropriate hiring authority will discuss this upon a request to offer.
