Position Summary: The Residential Living Summer Assistant assists with reviewing updating and developing trainings manuals and policies within Residential Living (RL). Supports professional staff in preparing for the following Fall Semester by developing and updating operational and procedural processes to influence a positive experience for Washburn students during their time with Residential Living.
Essential Functions:
• Serve as a positive and effective leader for team by attending summer staff meetings, serving on call, organize and assign duties for trainings manuals and policies.
• Develop and facilitate online desk assistant (DA) training for incoming and current student employees.
• Assist new students with online tools such as Navigate, D2L, and MyWashburn.
• Serve as a positive leader for RL, developing and facilitating online trainings for future student staff.
• Maintain confidentiality of personal information for students, families, staff, and faculty.
• Performs additional job-related duties as assigned or as appropriate.
Non-Essential Functions:
• Assist with preparing and organizing materials for related events.
• May be asked to carry boxes and transport materials up and down stairs and rearranging furniture.
• Assist with organizing materials for fall semester
Required Qualifications:
• Must have previously worked for Residential Living.
• Must understand RL processes and operations, have experience serving on call, and be able to think critically about training resources.
• Ability to competently articulate RL knowledge to share and train students.
• Ability to navigate tough conversations confidently and effectively.
• Ability to confidently articulate Washburn knowledge and share experiences with students and families.
• Ability to lead peers in a team setting and positively engage with diverse populations.
• Ability to work 20-40 hours per week throughout time of summer employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
At least one year experience as Lead RA. Preferred 3.0 GPA.
