The Country Store is the retail division of Skagit Farmers Supply, a diversified local agricultural supply cooperative. The company was founded in Burlington, WA in 1934. We have grown and developed into four business divisions: agronomy, retail, energy, and wholesale distribution & milling. Our mission is to serve the community to preserve and enhance the viability of the agriculture economy.

Our Country Stores provide quality goods and services for all “Farm-Pet-Home” needs! We operate 10 retail stores in Washington and Montana.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coach and provide feedback focused on enhancing employee performance
• Create a desirable work environment through promotions, recognition, and empowerment
• Hire, develop, evaluate, discipline, and retain staff
• Supervise, train and lead team members in providing exceptional customer service and product knowledge
• Communicate company processes and policies to staff
• Oversee daily procedures
• Schedule, organize and plan daily activities
• Implement cross-training to maintain productivity
• Promote a safe and productive work environment for staff and customers
• Seek ways to better promote the store, product lines and service within the store
• Run financial and inventory reports for the store
• Manage all controllable costs with a view to maintaining profitability
• Coordinate shipping and receiving activities
• Manage and maintain vendor business relations
• Manage daily merchandise flow to ensure adequate stock and inventory controls
• Work with retail support to organize merchandise resets; implement and sustain merchandise presentation
• Maintain presentability and cleanliness of the store
• Accurately complete sales using POS system according to established procedures
• Ensure a safe and clean environment
• Exhibit an ability to get along with others
• Practice punctual and reliable attendance
• Perform other duties as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Three years’ experience in retail store management
• High school diploma (or equivalent)
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen as a condition of employment
• Possess and maintain a valid driver license and safe driving record
• Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
• Demonstrate a commitment to excellence and high standards especially in terms of providing outstanding customer service
• Strong organizational, multi-tasking, problem-solving, and analytical skills with an emphasis on calculating figures and amounts
• Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating subordinates
• Ability to lift, carry and load 60-pound weight requirements
• Demonstrate proficiency with Windows operating system and Microsoft Office
• Proven track record of being dependable and reliable

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• College degree in business or equivalent experience
• Exhibit a high level of product knowledge in one or more of the following areas: livestock or equine products, lawn and garden supplies, hardware, fencing, pet feed & supplies or any related knowledge
• Experience with Epicor or similar retail POS software

SCHEDULE

This is a full-time position (schedule may vary). 45 hours/week. Sunday through Saturday. Must be available to work evenings and/or weekends as needed.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Annual base salary: $65k – $80k plus quarterly performance bonus program. After meeting eligibility requirements, benefits include:
