Position Overview
We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Billing & Revenue Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in finance/accounting within the SaaS industry, with experience in billing cross entities, customer contract management, AR analysis, revenue recognition scheduling, month-end AR processes, renewals billing, and assisting with sales commission calculations. The role involves maintaining our billing system, supporting year-end audits, and contributing to ad hoc projects. This role will report to the Controller and collaborate closely with FP&A and Sales Ops teams.
Responsibilities
Billing- Enter client contract data, generate sales orders and create invoices in the billing system
- Coordinate with Sales/Customer Success Team to address various billing issues relates to renewals and cancellation
- Interpret customer contracts to ensure proper revenue recognition per ASC 606 standards across our products and services
- Own the revenue month-end close process, including preparation of journal entries, account analysis, and reconciliation of revenue accounts to deliver timely and accurate financial results
- Maintain monthly Deferred Revenue Schedules and reconcile the discrepancies between customer contracts and accounting subledgers
- Prepare revenue reporting and analytical materials to support companywide monthly and quarterly reporting deliverables
- Maintain accounts receivable records to ensure aging is up to date, credits and collections are applied, uncollectible amounts are accounted for, and miscellaneous differences are cleared
- Monitor and collect accounts receivable on a weekly basis
- Interface with external auditors and work cross-functionally to standardize procedures, drive process improvements, and streamline revenue accounting operations
- Assist in calculating sales commissions, including preparation, analysis, and review of commission-related reports to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in Finance/Accounting in SaaS companies; experience with PE-backed SaaS businesses preferred.
- M&A experience preferred.
- Experience with Sage Intacct or similar accounting software preferred.
- Working knowledge of Salesforce platform is a plus.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Understanding of US GAAP and ASC 606.
- Experience with commissions is desirable.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills.
- Salary Expectation: starting from $75,000
