Rigger facilitates the movement and positioning of heavy equipment, materials and cargo. Sets up rigging, slings, pulleys, winches, dollies and ropes to safely maneuver loads. Being a Rigger coordinates moving activities with others using hand or other signals. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Rigger may be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Requires 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Rigger assists the crane operator on the ground directing the work with the crane. They are the ones who set up the pulleys and cables for the crane as well as ensure that the loads are properly secured. They also assist operators and other crew members with a variety of manual labor-related tasks, including the set-up and pull-down of rigs and equipment, and maintaining an orderly and safe job site.
Qualifications- Legally eligible to work in the United States
- Decent MVR Report per insurance guidelines
- Able to pass a drug test
- Able to work an on-call schedule including OT, weekends, night and holidays
- Spot and assist drivers to correctly set (Unload) and lift and / or load rig pieces for transport
- Ensure that all machinery is set, aligned, and leveled
- Comply with all company, customer, and industry policies and procedures including safety polices
- Monitor and maintain all rigging equipment to ensure safety
- Correctly attaching bridles to equipment and winch line of trucks
- Safely and properly attach and utilize all pulley and block systems
- Assisting drivers in proper load tie down, using chains and / or straps; and using all appropriate signs for flagging
- Work with rig crews, aiding in the assembly and / or disassembly of drilling rigs and oil field equipment
- Maneuver loads through difficult and confined spaces
- Always maintain control of all loads
- Working knowledge of all rigging equipment
- Immediately reports any unsafe situations or service calls to safety manager and/or dispatch before attempting service
- Perform all duties as scheduled by supervisor or dispatch, assisting other company drivers as needed or directed
- Work as a team member with other swampers and drivers
- Follow company safety policies and procedures
- Communicate fully and effectively with dispatchers and drivers
- Advise safety department off all near misses and / or incidents
- Filling out daily timesheets
- Other duties may be assigned
