Roofer jobs in Illinois
Roofer covers roofs with roofing materials, such as composition shingles or sheets, wood shingles, or asphalt and gravel, to waterproof roof. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Being a Roofer is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Additionally, Roofer performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a supervisor/manager. Typical Duties :
- Report to jobsite on time and ready to work
- Utilize hand and power tools as needed to perform tasks
- Working on a crew to install commercial flat single ply roofing materials in the Peoria area
Requirements
- Must have reliable transportation and be able to pass a drug screen
- Follow direction of the foreman
- Physically, workers must be able to : see well (either naturally or with correction)
- Climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolds
- Abilities to work at heights, at extreme temperatures, and to wear company's safety equipment are essential
