Safety Director directs, develops, and oversees the general health and safety policies and procedures of the organization. Ensures the workplace is in compliance with OSHA and other state, local, or industry specific regulations and that periodic safety audits are conducted. Being a Safety Director provides programs that ensure a safe workplace including safety orientations, skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment. Develops a systemic process to collect data and analyze the causes of accidents and generate required reporting. Additionally, Safety Director implements initiatives to reduce and prevent accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Safety Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Safety Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     This position will support our Event & Exhibit Services team. The position follows an in-person schedule working full-time in-office and/or show site based out of Las Vegas, NV.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    • Promotes and maintains a safe, secure, accident-free, and healthy work environment.
    • Applies experience and knowledge to implement and monitor Freeman’s Safety Program in compliance with standards set by the Company as well as federal, state, city, and local requirements.
    • Responsible for hiring, training, and managing Safety Field Operations team for the assigned Freeman location.
    • Partners / Collaborates with Executive Leaders, General Managers, and Branch Management teams on driving incident/accident/injury prevention(pre-loss & post-loss).
    • Ensures events produced by Freeman personnel at various venues within assigned location are supported by the Safety Field Operations team in an effort to drive pre-loss prevention by identifying physical or behavioral hazards. Recommends corrective actions or prevention measures where needed.
    • Guides Safety Field Operations team in post-loss prevention investigations of incidents, accidents, and injuries.
    • Takes the lead role in major accidents and investigations where the preparation of material and evidence could be used in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
    • Studies and analyzes loss data to share with key leaders within the assigned location to drive prevention efforts.
    • Collaborates with senior leadership to communicate ongoing safety concerns, training needs, and participation in Freeman’s Safety program.
    • Works with direct reports and Freeman’s insurance carrier to cut down on injured employee lost time including the utilization of Freeman’s Return to Work program.
    • Ensures DOT compliancy for commercial and non-commercial driver qualification at assigned location.
    • Ensures compliancy in maintaining safety files and records within assigned locations.
    • Represents Freeman in the community and/or in industry safety groups.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred, High School Diploma or Equivalent with relevant professional experience in similar field required.
    • 8 years of experience using specific policy guidelines to independently determine methods, work sequence, scheduling and how to achieve objectives of assignments.
    • Has a general understanding of loss control practices within the industry.
    • Working knowledge of OSHA regulation and other work related legislation.

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

    ASP, CSP or safety related certifications preferred.

    Travel Requirements

    Travel 25% to 50%
