Safety Director directs, develops, and oversees the general health and safety policies and procedures of the organization. Ensures the workplace is in compliance with OSHA and other state, local, or industry specific regulations and that periodic safety audits are conducted. Being a Safety Director provides programs that ensure a safe workplace including safety orientations, skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment. Develops a systemic process to collect data and analyze the causes of accidents and generate required reporting. Additionally, Safety Director implements initiatives to reduce and prevent accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Safety Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Safety Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. As the guardian of safety standards and environmental stewardship within our organization, the Director of Safety plays a pivotal role in ensuring the health, safety, and sustainability of our operations. They are responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive safety and environmental compliance programs, fostering a culture of safety consciousness, and proactively addressing environmental risks and challenges.
· Review contracts between the corporation and clients for compliance to terms.
· Maintain corporate reporting to OSHA, DOT, and FMSCA.
· Ensure compliance of individual subsidiaries with all local, State, and Federal Environmental, OSHA, DOT, and FMSCA standards.
· Stay informed an upcoming changes to standards in Environmental, OSHA, DOT and FMSCA standards that have an effect on the corporation and its operations.
· Work with 3rd party consultants in areas work responsibility.
· Assist in training local safety and fleet managers on standards.
· Participate in steering committees within the corporation.
** This role is remote with a preference in the EST time zone. There will be travel required.**
