Purpose and Scope :

Provide HR and safety support to assigned locations and managers, collaborating with the HR Manager or Director. Duties vary based on location needs but cover the areas outlined below.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• Partner with Talent Acquisition (TA) to optimize hiring processes and educate managers on interviewing and selection techniques.
• Conduct new hire processes, ensuring effective onboarding in collaboration with hiring managers and TA.
• Serve as the local contact for employee and manager inquiries regarding benefits and wellness programs, and assist with open enrollment processes.
• Coordinate district drug testing programs, including pre-employment, post-accident, and random testing.
• Address routine Payroll and HRIS system issues and assist in training new staff.
• Support location management in policy enforcement and corrective action decisions, coaching managers on leveraging employees effectively.
• Maintain positive employee relations through communication, social events, and periodic presence on all shifts, including up to 20% overnight travel if needed.
• Conduct employee relations activities such as stay interviews, exit interviews, surveys, and focus groups.
• Assist Safety staff with safety initiatives and claims processes, investigate new claims, and work with managers on corrective actions.
• Provide monthly workers compensation reports and lead district-level safety committees.
• Conduct safety audits and monitor compliance with safety training and regulations.
• Participate in local accident investigations and post-accident drug and alcohol tests.

Education and / or Experience :

• Four-year degree in Human Resources, Safety, or related field.
• Three or more years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.

Knowledge / Skill Requirements :

• Strong communication skills with employees and managers at all levels.
• Knowledge of federal and state employment regulations.
• HR certification (such as SHRM-CRP) preferred but not required.
• Ability to travel overnight up to 20-30% and drive or fly to job and customer locations as needed.
