    We are looking for a strategic and thoughtful Part Time Director of Social Work to join our Special Services team within commuting distance of our schools in Rhode Island

     

    Your Impact

     

    Reporting directly to the Managing Director of Social Work, our Part Time Director of Social Work is responsible for providing individual and group clinical supervision to the Rhode Island Social Workers in accordance with the Rhode Island licensing board’s regulations. They will also provide support to all Rhode Island school leaders regarding coaching guidance of their SWers and escalated socio-emotional crisis. Additionally, they will facilitate and support training on mandated reporting, de-escalation, attendance intervention, supporting the unhoused and identifying community resources.

     

    Coaching/Clinical Supervision

    • Weekly individual clinical supervision for eight SWers
    • Monthly group supervision (case consultation)
    • Support them through modeling and feedback.
    • Identify and implement clinically focused learning plans for each social worker to aid in their professional development. 

    Rhode Island crisis support and Reporting Management 

    • Crisis response (mandated reporting) support for principals, SWers, DSOs, and Regional Sups

    RI Strategy and Procedure development and socialization

    • Identifying RI SWer specific training needs
    • Researching and identifying  RI specific community based organizations and creating working relationships
    • Creating RI social work specific procedures based on RIDE and RI social work practice requirements and available services

    Collaborative work with school leadership and committees

    • Ad hoc support to school based coaches of SWers as needed
    • Ad hoc collaboration with school leaders to identify and coach SW/Cs through clinical supervision towards proactive whole school interventions 
    • Collaborating with TSS/TSE Directors as needed to support RI SW/C development and alignment in Special Services and SEL procedures. 



    Skills You’ll Have

     

    All candidates for this position will support AF core values, lead innovation, and manage projects to ensure our Special Services team, like our schools, are setting a high bar in all areas and pursuing it relentlessly. Master’s degree in social work is required and experience in leadership and experience in a similarly fast-paced work environment.

    Travel may be required to and among our schools and offices at various locations (New York, Connecticut, and Rhode Island). Candidates must be based in commuting distance to one of these regions. Please note this is not a fully remote role. 

    A qualified candidate will have:

    Education: Master's or Professional Degree (M.Ed., M.A.T., M.B.A., M.S.N., M.D., J.D., etc.)

      • Master’s degree in social work

    Licensure: 

      • RI-LICSW (licensed independent clinical social worker)

    Certificates, Certifications, or Other Training: 

      • Rhode Island Social Worker (13003) Certification
      • SIFI (Seminar in field instruction)
      • Completion of child abuse identification, school violence intervention and prevention and dignity for all students act workshops
    • Previous Experience: 
      • 3-5 years clinical work with children and families
      • Experience working in schools, track record of successful interventions with students and families
      • Leadership and supervisory experience

    Compensation

    Achievement First sets salaries through a lens of equity, and based on the requisite skills, education, and experience relevant to the role. The salary for this position is $56.61 per hour with no flexibility.
