School Nurse administers nursing care under the guidelines of a school system. Participates in the implementation and evaluation of student care. Being a School Nurse ensures the health, comfort and safety of students. Requires state nursing licensure and educational credential. Additionally, School Nurse typically requires an associate's degree in nursing. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The School Nurse work is closely managed. Position Description:
The individual selected for this assignment will supervise unlicensed persons in the performance of basic and/or special tasks of client/nursing care. Identify and assist students who have health risks. Coordinate appropriate preventive health-screening activities. Will supervise the implementation of the communicable disease control Oregon statute and District policy. Provide consultation to school staff for reporting immunization status and TB status to County Health Division. Assist building staff with management of school health data, including student health records. Perform other tasks as assigned.
Special Requirements:
1.Bachelor’s degree in nursing from accredited university that includes public health nursing preparation and experience.
2. Minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience with pediatric care.
3. Licensed to practice as registered nurse in Oregon.
4. Eligible for Oregon license as a school nurse.
5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
This position is 10. FTE; 191 days per year.
