School Nurse jobs in Utah

Providence Hall is a charter school located in Herriman UT. Central to the school's mission is teaching students to think critically, communicate effectively, and act responsibly.

Providence Hall is seeking a motivated, dedicated, and compassionate School Nurse to join our team for the 2024-2025 school year. Our school nurses play a crucial role in promoting the health and well-being of students within the school environment. They provide essential healthcare services, assist with academic success, support students with health needs, and promote a healthy school community.

Schedule: 

This position will work 2 week days per week at 8 hours per day with an additional alternating 3rd day every other week. 

Responsibilities:

• Ensure compliance with national and state laws.
• Respond to health emergencies and follow school safety protocols.
• Identification, assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of student health concerns.
• Chronic disease management and education.
• Participation in Individualized Education Plans and Section 504 Plan development for students with health needs that interfere with learning.
• Communicate and collaborate with parent(s)/guardian(s) to obtain medication orders and procedure orders.
• Develop, complete, implement, update, and maintain student confidential files and records, Individualized Healthcare Plans, Emergency Action Plans and Agency Referrals
• Conduct training for staff as necessary.
• Screenings and referrals for health factors impacting student education (e.g. vision, oral health).
• Medication administration.
• Ensure safe delegation and monitor performance of delegated tasks to unlicensed assistive personnel by adhering to the provisions of the Utah Nurse Practice Act and according to state code.
• Monitor and maintain records for student immunizations, compliance, and state reporting requirements.
• Provide preventative health education (e.g. growth and development, hygiene, safety, nutrition) through classroom and individual instruction, and written communication, including school newsletters.
  
• Systemize, collect, and report data for required required state reporting. 
• Assessments and interventions for students with mental health needs.
• Crisis team participation.

Qualifications:

• Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Utah.
• Experience in pediatric or school nursing.
• CPR and First Aid certification.
• Positive interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to maintain calm in high-stress situations.
  
• Knowledge of state health regulations and school health policies.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Compassion and empathy towards students and families.
• Good organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  
• Commitment to promoting a healthy and safe school environment.
• Accountable to practice within current state laws, rules, and regulations.
• Willing to effectively, problem-solving as needed.
• Basic knowledge of Google Workspace and its collaboration tools.
• Capacity to perform all the responsibilities listed in this posting.
• Must pass a comprehensive background check, including criminal history, and professional references as a condition of employment.
  

Education Required: Associate or Bachelor Degree

Experience Required: 1 years 

Physical Requirements:

• Mobility: Ability to move around the school campus to provide care to students in different locations.
• Lifting: Capable of lifting and carrying medical supplies and equipment, potentially up to 25 pounds.
• Standing: Willingness to stand for extended periods while attending to students' health needs.
• Bending and Reaching: Ability to bend and reach to access medical supplies and assist students.
• Visual Acuity: Clear vision to assess student health conditions and administer medications accurately.
• Hearing: Ability to hear and respond to calls for assistance or emergencies.
• Fine Motor Skills: Proficient in using medical instruments and administering treatments that require precision.
• Stamina: Endurance to handle a fast-paced school environment and emergency situations that may arise.
• Lift up to 25 pounds, traverse school facility, and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency.
