Being a Set Designer may require an associate's degree or its equivalent and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Additionally, Set Designer relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Part Time Position by the show!
The Sooner Theatre is seeking candidates for a part-time Set Designer position, which is responsible for the drafting, designing and building of scenic elements, in collaboration with a construction manager and a team of volunteers and contract workers. The theatre mounts seven productions throughout the year (5 youth and 2 adult). Candidates should have previous set design and build experience. Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, knowledge of rigging and set construction, and previous experience in scenic painting and working with set design/drafting software. Candidates should be prepared to show examples of their work. A basic knowledge of sound and stage lighting is a plus. Degreed professionals preferred but not required.
