About the Job

The Shipping and Receiving Specialist is an integral part of the order fulfillment team in our home office in Rhode Island. In this role, you are responsible for retrieving items based on invoices or shipping lists, verifying the amount or type of items, and safely packaging them for shipment. As part of this process, you will generate shipping labels and sort completed packages into the proper distribution area.

The Shipping and Receiving Specialist picks and packs items from our warehouse to fill orders including building boxes or pallets for shipment and placing packaged orders in the correct area for distribution. While picking items, it is essential to visually check them for damage before packing them for shipment.

*Business hours for this role are Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm in our Lincoln, RI office*

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Retrieve items for shipment, verify the items in each order and package them for shipment ensuring quality and accuracy checks are in place. Ensure no damaged items are sent or received.
• Generate shipping labels and packing slips; Sort packages into the proper area for shipping or receiving properly accounting for the location of incoming goods
• Answer calls regarding shipping inquiries; Help process returns.
• Communicate shipping and inventory information with Customer Service team.
• Update and utilize ERP system for inventory management and order fulfillment.
• Follow workplace safety standards and follow procedures to ensure quality standards are met.

Qualifications/Education:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
• Minimum of 1-3 years of warehouse experience specifically in package handling, shipping, receiving and inventory.

We are looking for someone who has the following skills:

• Forklift trained or certified.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Good working knowledge of warehouse data systems.
• Microsoft Office 365.
• Experience with UPS/FEDEX shipping software.
• Experience using label-making software and packaging machinery.
• Familiarity with ERP software such as Netsuite
• Ability to meet pressing deadlines with attention to detail.
• Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team setting
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
