  • Paul V. Sherlock Center on Disabilities is seeking to hire a full-time Coordinator, Youth and Adult initiatives to join an established team of professionals to support the Sherlock initiatives related to youth and adult initiatives including Sherlock’s Statewide Workforce Initiative, Person Centered Thinking, and efforts to support individuals who self-direct their services. The individual in this position will coordinate activities related to supporting individuals with disabilities, to participate in school, work, and community activities. Activities include developing and coordinating technical assistance, training, and dissemination activities to build the capacity of professionals, providers and community members who support individuals with disabilities and their families. The coordinator will oversee Sherlock Center’s Youth and Adult initiatives and collaborate with local, state, and national entities that represent diverse or underserved populations on activities related to individuals with disabilities.
    Primary Purpose
    To coordinate the training, technical assistance, dissemination, and research initiatives pertinent to youth and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and families of persons with disabilities across the age span.
    Essential Duties
    • Oversee and coordinate culturally responsive initiatives and services for youth and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
    • Foster employment, continuing education, community membership and independent living for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
    • Oversee, collaborate with, and supervise Family Support Specialists and other Sherlock Center personnel in the design and implementation of activities related to individual and family supports.
    • Develop and coordinate technical assistance, training, and dissemination activities to support individuals using Self-Directed Supps and their families.
    • Develop and coordinate technical assistance, training, and dissemination activities to build the capacity of administrators, coordinators and direct support professionals who support individuals with disabilities and their families.
    • Participate and engage with local, state and national partners on activities related to youth and adult individuals with disabilities and their families.
    • Engage with diverse communities to address disparities impacting individuals and families.
    • Develop and support the Sherlock Center’s consumer advisory committee.
    • Develop and oversee a plan for data collection, data analysis and data reporting for projects related to individual and family supports.
    • Identify and develop grant proposals to support initiatives.
    • Develop reports and other products.
    • Translation of research and educational materials into plain language

    Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

    • Excellent computer skills including use of basic word processing and data programs.
    • Ability to translate research and educational materials into plain language.
    • Ability to supervise professional development and technical assistant providers
    Required Qualifications
    Education:
    • Graduate degree or Bachelor’s degree with ten years of experience in a leadership role in programs or organizations that support individuals with developmental and/or other disabilities.


    Experience:
    • Five years of experience providing or coordinating services and supports to individuals with disabilities.
    • Experience managing the implementing of projects including supervision of staff
    • Experience providing training and or technical assistance to direct support professionals (DSPs)or developmental disability organizations (DDOs).
    • Experience designing and implementing high quality, evidence based professional development experiences (i.e. facilitating small and large group sessions, coaching) to administrators, coordinators, and workforce personnel.
    • Experience with outreach to diverse or underserved populations or communities.
    • Experience with data and information gathering.
    • Experience in grant writing, developing reports and other related tasks.
    Preferred Qualifications
    Strongly Preferred: Life experience with individuals with disabilities and/or their families.
    • Bilingual
    Environmental Conditions
