    ABOUT THE JOB

    We’re looking for an energetic full-time Director of Special Events to join our Development Team to oversee and implement our signature fundraising events, the Polar Plunge, the Plane Pull Challenge and our Hickory Hall Polo night. In addition to special events, the director supervises our Manager of Community Partnerships, assists with sponsorship recruitment and fulfillment and implements the Olympic Town layout and activities.

     

    Primary Duties:

    • Gather, analyze, and assess relevant metrics to evaluate special event effectiveness and drive ongoing improvements
    • Responsible for assisting the database manager in keeping the donors and special event participant records current
    • Support all aspects of special events from conception to completion including the Polar Plunge and the Plane Pull Challenge.
    • Secure new sources of funding for SOIN including cash and in-kind donations relative to the special events
    • Recruit and manage a team of special event volunteers
    • Participate on the SOIN team that targets and cultivates new sponsors.

     

    Details:

    • Full-time, exempt with benefits.
    • Flexible schedule, 36 hours per week.
    • Some weekend and evening work.
    • Occasional in-state and out-of-state travel.
    • Some physical set-up of venues.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

    • Education: Bachelor’s Degree.
    • A proven track record of success in fundraising, special event planning, and volunteer management.
    • Customer service and marketing background preferred.
    • Basic computer proficiency (MS Office).
    • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including bending, lifting, and stacking of boxes and equipment.
    • Upbeat and positive attitude.
    • Must be detail-oriented and organized.
    • Must pass a background check.
