Staff Nurse - RN - Operating Room provides professional nursing care to assigned operating room patients throughout the perioperative period. Collaborates with surgical team to strategize, implement and evaluate an individualized plan of care for each patient. Being a Staff Nurse - RN - Operating Room assists physicians during examinations and surgical procedures, using and monitoring medical equipment as necessary. Evaluates and monitors patients' condition, maintains patients' medical records, and documents patient's progress. Additionally, Staff Nurse - RN - Operating Room administer medications, including narcotics, as directed. Functions in a scrub and circulating nurse role. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. May require Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR). Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. REGISTERED NURSE OPERATING ROOM
Southwest General has 16 operating rooms that provide a variety of inpatient and outpatient surgical services, including General, GYN, Ortho, Neuro, ENT, Vascular, Urology, Endoscopy, and Robotics. Patient acuity varies. Call is required, and on call sleep rooms are available. Amount of call and weekends depend on department needs. New grads are considered, CNOR credential is preferred.

POSITION SUMMARY:
A professional caregiver who plans, provides, and directs patient care and teaching, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with patient care standards and physician orders. They act as a liaison between physicians, patient and family, and collaborates with other health care members. They assist in the orientation process of new personnel, and may participate in health center and department committees. The staff nurse must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age groups according to specific chronological age, developmental age, and/or psycho-social maturity.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and current licensure by Ohio State Board of Nursing.
Required length of experience:
Experience preferred.
Required licensure, certification, and/or registry:
Current license by the Ohio State Board of Nursing.
CPR, BLS required.
CNOR preferred.
