Staff Nurse - RN, Sr. - Medical Management leads the coordination between care providers and plan members with the goal of maximizing member benefits while managing costs. Oversees the assessment of medical necessity of procedures and/or admissions, conducts pre-certification or authorization, and ensures compliance with established guidelines. Being a Staff Nurse - RN, Sr. - Medical Management assists members in appeals for denied services. Interprets benefits and guides members to choose to the appropriate providers, projects and resources. Additionally, Staff Nurse - RN, Sr. - Medical Management applies the medical and reimbursement policies within the claim adjudication process. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Nursing. Typically reports to a manager. Requires RN license. To be a Staff Nurse - RN, Sr. - Medical Management typically requires more than 5 years of related experience.     • Serves as positive role model and in the preceptor role for new staff and students
    • Keeping access to protected health information secure and confidential
    • Collaborates with physician and multidisciplinary team to address patient needs
    • Appropriately seeks help or guidance from supervisor or other resource people
    • Adapts to change and prioritizes work
    • Demonstrates reliable attendance, reports on time and is ready to work at beginning of shift
    • Completes assigned duties, willingly accepts assignments and assist others to complete work on time
    • Willing to support unit’s staffing needs by occasionally adjusting work schedule, staying late or working extra
    • Establishes a safe, compassionate, caring environment for patients and their family
    • Establishes a safe, supportive work environment that promotes teamwork
    • Core Duties:
    • Coordinates patient care by scheduling, consulting and organizing patient activities
    • Performs admission and ongoing patient assessment and responds appropriately to findings
    • Establishes a Plan of Care for each patient to address acute physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
    • Promotes patient engagement by considering specific needs, values and preferences
    • Establishes care goals, teaches patient/family about health conditions, medications, and self-care skills
    • Develops discharge plan individualized for patient/ family needs that prevents hospital readmissions
    • Accurately and completely documents assessments and nursing care in the patient’s medical record
    • Promotes continuity of care by reporting activities, incidences, and changing patient needs to next caregiver
    • Demonstrates infection prevention behaviors, consistent hand washing and use of appropriate PPEs
    • Adheres to safe medication administration while preparing, administering, documenting and monitoring meds
    • Recognizes safety risk and implements prevention plan for falls, skin breakdown and injury
    • Contributes to the department’s performance improvement activities
    • Demonstrates competency in performance of clinical skills
