Staff Nurse - RN - Wound and Enterostomal aids hospital staff and physicians in the care of patients with stomas, draining wounds, fistulae, incontinence, or potential or actual tissue trauma. Manages patients with post-operative surgical wounds requiring packing or negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT), pressure ulcers and vascular ulcers. Being an Staff Nurse - RN - Wound and Enterostomal provides support and education to patients and their families, including pre and post-operative teaching, wound care, ostomy care, and ostomy appliance maintenance/trouble-shooting. Requires a RN license and typically requires CWOCN, CWS, or CWCA certification. Additionally, Staff Nurse - RN - Wound and Enterostomal typically requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Staff Nurse - RN - Wound and Enterostomal's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Bachelors degree in Medical Technology or a related filed required. Must be board eligible by NCA or ASCP and complete board certification within one year of employment
One to three years of related or progressively more responsible experience in chemistry, blood bank, hematology and microbiology or formal student internship
Certification at MT by American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or CLS by National Accrediting Agency (NCA) within one year of employment
