Strategic Sourcing Manager jobs in Maryland

The Sourcing Manager is responsible for the planning and execution of protein (national meat, pork, poultry) contracting initiatives that result in successful contracts that support the needs of our customers. The Manager will develop a plan to conduct the initiative that leverages best practices and sound processes. Also, the role requires judgment to adjust the process to enable creating a successful contract in an efficient manner. Additionally, the Manager will oversee a portfolio of protein contracts in which s/he will ensure the supplier meets their contract commitments and that customers’ needs are being met.

Primary Responsibilities

• Thoughtfully plan initiatives manage annual plan by creating realistic timelines and meeting milestones, communicates initiative status leads effective supplier negotiation and pricing strategy development efforts which integrates company's principles and value proposition
• Collaborates with clients regarding initiatives , i.e., identify the correct stakeholders, solicit input at the appropriate times, lead meetings, etc.
• Lead Business Ownership (Supplier Management) activity for his/her portfolio of contracts
• Build and maintain supplier relationships hold suppliers account to deliver contractual commitments
  
  

• Collaborate with other internal departments to ensure contracts are delivering maximum potential
• Collaborate with clients on a frequent basis
• Assist Category Strategy Leaders with development of category strategies in his/her area of responsibility

• This job operates in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. This role spends a portion of the time visiting customer and/or supplier facilities which could include loading dock and/or warehouse environments. [Some routine food preparation in food-related positions]
  

• General sourcing/procurement experience
• Extensive knowledge of the protein category to include beef, chicken, pork and/or turkey and the respective markets. Experience negotiating contracts and understanding of the negotiation process (understanding facts, presenting alternatives and thinking creatively), including knowledge of how protein pricing formulas work
• Excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills
• Ability to build strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
• Knowledge of process workflow tools is a plus
• Ability to perform analysis and interpret results into actionable steps
• Ability to manage more than one initiative or project at once
• Strong attention to detail and process orientation
• Ability to be assertive
• At a minimum intermediate Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. Intermediate to expert skills in Microsoft Excel.
  

• Type: All modes of transportation , percentage 10-25% length: 1-2 nights

• 5-15 years of experience in business management (operational or management consulting) with an understanding of procurement, contracting, supply chain optimization and/or category management should include more than 5 years of protein category experience
  
  
  

• BS/BA in relevant field or equivalent years' experience with education in supply chain, business, economics, or related field highly desire
  

• 5 years of sourcing proteins- center of the plate
