Stripper - Materials sets-up and operates equipment that strips paint from steel drums preparatory to repainting. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Being a Stripper - Materials may have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty with at least 4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Additionally, Stripper - Materials relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. Directs and leads the work of others. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a supervisor/manager. Position Summary
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Operate white lead stripper and vulcanizer.
Organizational Relationships/ Scope- Report directly to Value Stream Team Leader
- Work closely with other departments to resolve issues with the processes & equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:- Load and unload vulcanizer as needed
- Load and unload vulcanizer trains as needed
- Strip white lead off hose for reuse in white lead system
- Keep white lead grinders operating at full capacity
- Keep white lead extruder supplied with regrind white lead
- Send hose to Strip & Test for further disposition
- Identify and eliminate known defects
- Document good and non-conforming product
- Correctly fill out required paperwork daily
- Train new employees as needed
- Detect and report problem areas or unusual conditions to supervisor
- Always maintain equipment and work areas in a clean and orderly condition
- Use personal safeguards for hands, feet and eyes as prescribed
- Perform related and other duties assigned by supervisor
- Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures, and in a manner that eliminates unreasonable risk to health and the environment. Notify management of unsafe conditions or practices, unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk. Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to management immediately.
- Prevent excess waste of product and/or components by operating the equipment in an efficient manner.
- Maintain production schedules.
- Work with groups in initiating and implementation of programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S.
- Other duties may be assigned later.

1.3. ANSI Z41 Safety Shoes
1.4. Kevlar gloves- Standing is required for extended periods of time. Walking, carrying, stooping, bending, reaching & lifting are done on a frequent basis. Climbing, lifting overhead, pushing, pulling & grasping are performed on an occasional basis.
- Requires high degree of manual dexterity, which could be performed under restrictive conditions.
- Requires flexible hours and short notice for overtime.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Experience
Production work preferred but not required
Preferred Skills/Qualifications- Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Basic knowledge and use of hand tools
- Sound decision making skills
- Good math, reading, writing skills
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
- Mental and visual acuity for production of quality product
Skills/Competencies- Basic computer skills – Microsoft Office package
- 2. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to work well in a team environment
