Job Description
An Overhead Hoist and Crane Company is looking for a full-time structural steel/ironworker. The job not only erecting steel but also grinding, drilling, painting, loading the components on a tractor trailer, installing the electrical brackets, bridge crane, hoist and anything else to erect a full functioning crane system. .
- Use appropriate tools to cut, drill, and measure raw materials.
- Align machines and equipment, using hand and power tools appropriately, which may include lasers, micrometers, calipers, squares, rulers, drills, saws, etc.
- Plan work and solve problems.
- Move machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, hand trucks, and fork lifts, mobile cranes.
- Adhere to OSHA’s, and our company and customers’ safety procedures and fall protection policies.
- Select cables, ropes, chains, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved.
- May perform duties of a general laborer, skilled laborer as needed.
- Able to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
- Follows instructions and able to complete assignments timely.
- Work from a ladder, a lift, a raised platform, or a variety of other surfaces and from heights without fear.
- Use logical step-by-step procedures in work.
- Perform a variety of duties which may change often and require operating machinery.
- Have coordinated hand-eye movements.
- Must be able to use hands and fingers fully, reach for, manipulate, and feel objects; stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl as necessary to assemble equipment.
- Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Must pass a DOT medical examination.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Able to pass a drug test and a criminal background check.
- Be a team player and work well with others.
- Must own a cellphone in order to clock in and out of the time and attendance program in order to be paid. Also, to send and receive email.
- Overnight travel a few times a month may be required.
- CDL license not required but helpful
