Surgeon - Heart Transplant examines, diagnoses, and surgically treats patients with end-stage cardiac disease. Surgically replaces a diseased or damaged heart with a healthy heart. Being a Surgeon - Heart Transplant reviews patient history and confirms need for surgery. Determines which instruments and method of surgery will be most successful in achieving the desired outcome. Additionally, Surgeon - Heart Transplant may provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care. May provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Typically reports to the chief of surgery. Requires a license to practice. Ensures the coordination and continuity of patient care for Transplant patients by assisting the Transplant coordinators in performing hospital services for patients. Provide clinical information to patients, referring doctors, labs and insurance carriers. Assists with outside lab documentation in patients' charts and reporting abnormal results to appropriate coordinator. Assists in program data collection and production of monthly departmental reports. Maintains program statistics by utilizing database system(s) and maintaining all associated records. Coordinates departmental quality assurance projects.

Shift hours: 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday
