Surgeon - Pediatric jobs in Iowa
Surgeon - Pediatric examines, diagnoses, and surgically treats children from the newborn stage through late adolescence. Treats a wide variety of problems children may have, which may include appendicitis, hernias, cancer, or a serious congenital anomaly. Being a Surgeon - Pediatric reviews patient history and confirms need for surgery. Determines which instruments and method of surgery will be most successful in achieving desired outcome. Additionally, Surgeon - Pediatric may provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care. May provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Typically reports to the chief of surgery. Requires a license to practice. - Procedures Required: General Surgical Cases (Pediatric and Neonatal), Chest Wall/Pleural Procedures, Central Line Insertion, Chest Tube Insertion, Vascular Surgery (Thoracic, Abdominal), Laparoscopic Surgery (Cholecystectomy, Hernioplasty, Nissen Fundoplication), Additional Procedures for Physicians Trained as Pediatric Surgeons (Esophageal Atresias, Intestinal Atresias, Biliary Atresias, Abdominal Wall Defects - Gastroschisis, Umbilical Defects - Omphalocele, Umbilical Defects - Hernia)
- Practice Setting: Hospital Based
- Schedule: 24-Hour shifts, Call Schedule: 7AM to 7AM
