Surgeon - Plastic Reconstructive examines, diagnoses, and surgically treats patients that have abnormal structures of the body caused by congenital defects, developmental abnormalities, trauma, infection, tumors, or disease. Performs surgery to improve functions and to approximate a normal appearance. Being a Surgeon - Plastic Reconstructive reviews patient history and confirms need for surgery. Determines which instruments and method of surgery will be most successful in achieving desired outcome. Additionally, Surgeon - Plastic Reconstructive may provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care. May provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Typically reports to the chief of surgery. Requires a license to practice.     Assistant/Associate Professor of Surgery - Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon

    The Department of Surgery, Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco, is seeking outstanding candidates for a full time, academic surgeon with an exemplary record of patient care and expertise in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Candidates must be board certified or board eligible. Applicants must have completed or will complete by the time of hire a microsurgical fellowship with extensive experience in microsurgical breast reconstruction. Applicants' materials must list current, eligible, and/or pending qualifications upon submission.

    Primary clinical responsibilities will be in breast reconstruction and microsurgery for cancer reconstruction (breast and other), as well as general reconstructive surgery. 1-2 days per week will be spent at satellite surgical centers within hour of the Mission Bay campus.

    Research productivity is expected and protected time for research will be provided. The candidate should have a proven track record in clinical discovery and health services research with publications in these areas.

    Candidates must have recognized skills in the education of surgery residents and medical students and will be expected to be active participants in the Department's residency training and educational programs.

    The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $142,800 - $223,400. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
