Surgeon - Plastic Reconstructive jobs in New York

Surgeon - Plastic Reconstructive examines, diagnoses, and surgically treats patients that have abnormal structures of the body caused by congenital defects, developmental abnormalities, trauma, infection, tumors, or disease. Performs surgery to improve functions and to approximate a normal appearance. Being a Surgeon - Plastic Reconstructive reviews patient history and confirms need for surgery. Determines which instruments and method of surgery will be most successful in achieving desired outcome. Additionally, Surgeon - Plastic Reconstructive may provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care. May provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Typically reports to the chief of surgery. Requires a license to practice.     Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Serves patients by greeting and helping them, scheduling appointments, and maintaining records and accounts
    • Welcomes patients and visitors in person or on the telephone and answering or referring inquiries
    • Optimizes patient satisfaction, provider time, and room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone
    • Comforts Patients by anticipating patients’ anxieties, answering patients’ questions, and maintaining the reception area
    • Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording and updating personal and financial information, and collecting patient charges
    • Protects patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality or medical, personal, and financial information
    • Maintains operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes
    • Maintains business office inventory by checking stock levels and reorders when applicable

    Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
    • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office-Word, Excel and Outlook)
    • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
    • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines and standard accepted practices
    • High school diploma or GED required
    • Associate degree preferred

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal , state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
