Tax Manager is responsible for managing the tax accounting staff and the tax planning, reporting, and compliance functions. Oversees the preparation of all tax filings and reporting in compliance with all required regulations. Being a Tax Manager evaluates the tax implications of company activities and develops strategies to minimize the tax obligations. Advises management on future changes to tax regulations and possible impact to the organization. Additionally, Tax Manager may manage and direct relationships with vendors and advisors. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to Tax Director or Top Tax Executive. The Tax Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE TAX MANAGER
• Prepare and review tax returns for a variety of clients including corporations, partnerships and trusts & estates
• Complete complex tax research and planning
• Work on accounting engagements including the preparation of compiled financial statements
• Develop and cultivate professional client relationships while providing superior service.
QUALIFICATIONS OF THE TAX MANAGER
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• 5 years of recent public accounting experience, with an emphasis on tax
• CPA license or progression towards obtaining
• Team player
• Ability to professionally lead complex tax & accounting engagements, work independently and juggle multiple priorities
• Strong communication, client service, organizational, analytical and PC skills
• Prior estate & trust experience, restaurant industry experience and UltraTax, Accounting CS & Thomson Reuters software proficiency are all a plus
