May require state-specific teaching license. Typically requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Typically reports to a principal. The Teacher Aide works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Reports To: Teacher
Job Goal: Lead students toward the fulfullment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation.
Performance Responsibilities- Prepares for classroom activities, under supervision of licensed teacher;
- Works with small groups of students to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher;
- Assists individual students in need of special attention;
- Performs clerical duties;
- Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up by the teacher;
- Sets up audiovisual equipment;
- Assists teacher with non-instructional classroom duties, such as snack, toilet, and clothing routines;
- Checks notebooks, corrects papers, and supervises testing and make-up work;
- Assists in drill work;
- Assists with reading and storytelling;
- Assists small groups of students in the media center;
- Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of the certified staff;
- Participates in required training (conferences, meetings, and webinars) as assigned;
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
Term of Employment: The terms of employment detailed in this job description are based on full-time employment during an entire school year.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the board's policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
