    LOCATION: District wide. Classes could be held in Green Bay, Marinette, Sturgeon Bay campuses, and Regional Learning Centers

    STANDARD HOURS: Hours vary based upon student demand

    MINIMUM STARTING RATE OF PAY: $17.50/hour.

    Position Summary

    The EMS Teaching Assistant supports the mission and values of the college providing supportive instruction to any lead instructor and all students participating within the courses assigned. The EMS Training Assistant will maintain knowledge of all current curriculum knowledge, license or certifications, and awareness of current successful teaching strategies for student success. The EMS Teaching Assistant will maintain communication with all necessary departments and instructors.

    Skills & Abilities

    Education: Minimum of high school education required. Associate Degree in EMS- or health-related field preferred.

    Certification/Licensure: WI EMS licensure at the level of EMS training assistance to be provided in the classroom (with specific experience level) or WI RN licensure (with specific experience level.) Requires at a minimum Instructor I license, per DHS requirements.

    Experience: WI EMS licensure – 2 years’ experience, with 5 years preferred as a field EMS provider with a WI-licensed ambulance service or WI RN licensure – 2 years’ experience in a hospital emergency department or 2 years’ experience with an air medical transport service.

    Computer Skills:

    Microsoft Office Suite, Internet navigation, various online learning-based program navigation, PeopleSoft experience preferred

    Other Requirements:

    • Educational teaching strategies and motivational techniques for classroom instruction
    • Ability to learn and use technology and alternative delivery methods, including but not limited to: online instruction and the use of distance education.
    • Skill in communication and human relations with populations having diverse socio-economic and racial backgrounds and persons with physical and/or learning disabilities.
    • Skill in oral and written communications.
    • Ability to adapt to new and emerging technologies and incorporate them into the curriculum.
    • Previous teaching experience with adult learners is desirable.
    • Ability to work in a team environment is essential.
    • Ability to work non-standard hours including evening or weekend hours.
    • Must hold a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the Districts standard insurance policy terms.

    Certifications:

    Wisconsin Technical College System Provisional Certification is not required because the EMS training assistant does not participate in direct instructor-to-student cognitive/didactic or psychomotor/practical skills instruction but rather assists with small groups of students in achieving proficiencies in the practical skills portion of EMS training that is coordinated/directed by the lead EMS Instructor I or EMS Instructor II.
