    Background: 

    Athletic Trainers (ATs) play a pivotal role in the preservation of force and family initiatives, particularly within the Guardian Angel and HH-60 personnel groups. Their expertise spans the spectrum of human performance, focusing on injury prevention, acute care, performance enhancement, and pre-habilitative services. 


    Scope of Work: 

    The Athletic Trainer will provide essential services that promote the optimal physical performance of GA/rescue operators and HH-60 personnel. This includes conducting assessments, providing immediate care, and developing injury prevention programs without the necessity for referrals. 


    Key Responsibilities: 

    • Scope of Practice: Deliver athletic training services within the scope defined by the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers (BOC). 
    • Pre-habilitation and Assessment: Evaluate and provide pre-habilitative care to enhance physical performance and prevent injuries among 1T2/13D/11H/1A9 personnel. 
    • Injury Prevention Education: Instruct and guide personnel on injury prevention and maximizing physical conditioning. 
    • Program Review and Advisory: Regularly participate in meetings to review preventive maintenance efforts and advise unit commanders on related matters. 
    • Training Plan Development: Provide individual training plans at contract start, including fitness assessments and tailored training regimens. 
    • Equipment and Environment Safety: Ensure the safe operation of all equipment and maintain a safe training environment. 
    • Documentation and Reporting: If directed by the COR, assist in documenting care in MHS GENESIS and participate in the collection and reporting of workload data. 
    • Performance Metrics Reporting: Provide reports on human performance and pre-habilitative trending metrics, which include detailed analyses of musculoskeletal health and performance readiness. 
    • Other duties as assigned.


    Required Qualifications: 

    • Education: Master of Athletic Training from an accredited university. Must hold a current licensed Athletic Trainer degree. 
    • Experience: At least four years of experience as an Athletic Trainer, including work with elite athlete populations such as Special Operation Personnel or Division I collegiate/professional athletes. 
    • Certifications: Certified through the BOC as an Athletic Trainer. Additional certification in strength and conditioning preferred. 
    • Communication and Team Coordination Skills: Exceptional oral and written communication skills necessary for effective collaboration and education. 
    • Legal and Ethical Knowledge: Understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards pertaining to athletic training. 
    • Research and Analysis Skills: Proficient in using research tools and information systems to evaluate practices and outcomes. 
    • Physical Requirements: Capable of meeting the physical demands associated with training military personnel, including handling weights up to 55 pounds and operating in challenging environments. 
    • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.


    Working Conditions: 

    • The role requires working on site during normal duty hours and supporting occasional surge operations. The Athletic Trainer is not required to work on federal holidays but must be available for surge operations typically amounting to 10 hours a month. 
    • The role requires attendance at necessary training and continuing education events to maintain certification and professional competency.
