Key Responsibilities

Training Program Management:

• Oversight and Improvement: The manager is responsible for ensuring all training programs are successful and efficient. This includes reviewing existing programs, implementing improvements to make them more engaging and effective, and adapting them to meet changing needs.
• Evaluation and Recommendation: They are tasked with evaluating the effectiveness of training programs and recommending areas for improvement. This might involve analyzing data, collecting feedback from trainees, and identifying knowledge gaps.
• Selection and Implementation: The manager collaborates with leadership to choose appropriate in-house or external training programs based on needs assessments and business goals.

Training Development and Delivery:

• Needs Assessment and Curriculum Design: They conduct needs assessments to identify skill gaps and design curriculum that addresses those needs and aligns with business objectives.
• Training Delivery: The manager may directly conduct training programs or participate in them alongside other instructors.

Leadership and Collaboration:

• Performance Consulting: The manager acts as an internal consultant, partnering with leadership to create effective training programs and foster professional development.
• Coaching and Mentoring: They provide one-on-one coaching to managers, trainers, and emerging leaders to enhance their effectiveness.
• Vendor Management: The manager oversees relationships with vendors who provide training services, ensuring projects meet requirements and deadlines.

Project Management and Compliance:

• Project Coordination and Development: They may lead or assist in developing training programs for special projects or key initiatives.
• Budget Management: The manager ensures all training activities are completed within the approved budget while meeting quality, safety, and training milestones.
• Compliance and Root Cause Analysis: They participate in investigations related to training issues, analyze trends, and recommend corrective actions.
• External Audits: The manager may be involved in external audits by customers or regulatory agencies.

Teamwork and Culture:

• Team Engagement: The manager fosters a positive and productive work environment for the training team.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: 4-year college degree in a relevant field or a combination of relevant experience and education.
• Additional Preference: Certification in organizational development, training, or talent development programs.
• Ideal Candidate: 5 years of experience leading an Organizational Learning and Development program.

Technical Knowledge:

• Extensive knowledge of safety and quality procedures.

Communication Skills:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to simplify complex technical information for non-technical audiences.
