Additionally, Textbook Manager may lead and direct the work of others. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a bookstore manager. The Textbook Manager supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Textbook Manager typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Position Overview: Join the Textbook Brokers team as our Campus Store Manager at the Colorado School of Mines, where you'll play a crucial role in transforming our campus store into a modern retail hub. In this dynamic position, you'll lead all aspects of store operations with a strong focus on merchandise management. Your mission will be to drive continuous improvement, operational excellence, and top-tier customer service to support the Mines Community.

    Your leadership will be instrumental in shaping the store's culture and promoting an environment of mentorship and continual improvement. You'll strategically oversee financial metrics, operational processes, and long-term planning, ensuring alignment with both immediate and future objectives. As a key liaison between your campus team and Regional Management, your efforts will enhance operational efficiencies, deepen campus community engagement, and foster substantial growth and robust development.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Merchandise Management:

    • Product Selection and Inventory: Curate and manage an extensive range of merchandise that meets the needs and preferences of the Mines community. Ensure timely ordering, inventory accuracy, and optimal stock levels.
    • Visual Merchandising: Design and maintain visually appealing merchandise displays that attract and engage customers, optimizing the store layout for a seamless shopping experience.
    • Pricing Strategies: Develop and implement effective pricing strategies to maximize sales and profitability while maintaining competitive and fair pricing.
    • Sales Promotions: Plan and execute sales promotions and special events to boost product visibility, drive sales, and increase customer engagement.

    Customer Service:

    • Foster a Customer-Centric Culture: Lead by example to instill a service-oriented culture within the team, focused on solutions-based selling and providing unparalleled customer experiences.
    • Strengthen Community Connections: Actively build and sustain relationships with campus members and the local community to enhance engagement and loyalty.
    • Manage and Resolve Issues: Efficiently address customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly. Escalate complex situations as necessary, ensuring customer satisfaction and continuous service improvement.
    • Uphold Store Standards: Consistently maintain a clean, organized, and inviting store environment, setting the stage for positive customer interactions and streamlined operations.

    Campus and Community Engagement:

    • Primary Campus Liaison: Serve as the key contact for campus groups, organizations, and individuals, ensuring robust communication and collaboration.
    • Event Leadership and Support: Proactively initiate and support frequent events that engage both the campus and the broader community, enhancing the store’s visibility and connection.
    • Operational Communication: Oversee the daily communication of operational activities, ensuring all stakeholders are informed and engaged.
    • Strategic Engagement: Lead Strategic Partnership Reviews and actively participate in Bookstore Advisory Committees to strengthen campus outreach and collaborative engagement efforts.

    Marketing and Brand Management:

    • Strategic Campaign Development: Develop and execute fully integrated marketing campaigns across digital and traditional channels. Utilize audience insights, test-and-learn strategies, and metrics to drive engagement and refine practices.
    • Innovative Branding and Compliance: Innovate and implement creative solutions to enhance the university brand's reputation, while collaborating with licensing and vendors to ensure compliance with brand guidelines. This dual approach ensures that creativity flourishes within the framework of brand integrity.
    • Social Media and Digital Marketing: Leverage social media platforms and digital marketing tools to promote store events, new merchandise, and special promotions. Develop engaging content to increase online presence, drive traffic to the store, and enhance community engagement.

    Sales and Operational Excellence:

    • Strategic Operating Plans: Develop and implement operational strategies for both peak and non-peak periods to align with campus objectives, ensuring the store operates efficiently year-round.
    • Financial and Sales Strategy: Partner with the Regional Team to regularly review financials and adapt strategies to enhance sales performance, addressing market dynamics and consumer trends.
    • Inventory and Asset Management: Manage store markups, markdowns, and write-offs within company guidelines. Ensure robust security measures are in place to protect assets and maintain a safe environment for staff and customers.

    Position Requirements:

    • Educational Background: Bachelors in Business Administration or relevant field preferred.
    • Professional Experience: 5 years’ of management experience in a retail environment, with extensive experience in retail merchandising. This includes expertise in product selection, pricing strategies, visual merchandising, inventory management, and promotional campaigns to drive sales and customer engagement.
    • Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and Word are essential.
    • Industry Experience: Prior experience in academic retail is preferred, highlighting a deeper understanding of academic environments.
    • Project Management: Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
    • Communication Skills: Exceptional communication, customer service, and presentation skills are necessary.
    • Analytical Abilities: Strong analytical skills are required, with a focus on utilizing metrics and data to drive and optimize marketing efforts.
    • Leadership and Relationship Building: Proven track record of building strong relationships, leading a team effectively, and engaging in proactive outreach.
    • Work Style: Ability to work both autonomously and as a part of a team, with a creative, inquisitive, and solution-oriented mindset.

    Travel Requirements: Required travel includes in-person training in Cheyenne, WY before July 8th, as well as 1-2 weeks of annual travel for continued learning opportunities.
